Mechem, Faye J.: Faye J. Turner Stanchina Pike Mechem, 84, St. Clairsville, died this morning at her home. She was born May 13, 1905 at Bethesda, daughter of the late Lee and Bertha McWilliams Turner. She was a Methodist and a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Woman's Club, Garden Club, all of St. Clairsville and was formerly a teacher at the Ritchey School at Wheeling. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Anthony Stanchina and Charles Pike; a brother, Baynard (Bud) Turner. Surviving are her husband, Paul Mechem; a son, Anthony Stanchina of Charleston, WV.; a daughter, Sue Little of Cleveland TN., eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Beck Funeral Home, St. Clairsville, Thursday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. David Bush officiating. Medley, Harry: Harry Medley, 73, Sebring, FL., formerly of Morristown, died April 1, 1991 at his home. He was a retired employee of Office Machine Co., and a Methodist by faith. He was preceded in death by his first wife, June Jumps Medley. Surviving are his wife, Christine C. Medley; one son, Robert of Minot, ND.; one daughter, Donna Malek of Brunswick; two brothers, Charles of Barnesville and Harold of Connorsville, IN.; two sisters, Doris Rhodes of Cleveland and Evelyn Tracy of Barnesville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Meighen, Mrs. Laurence N. : Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Meighen, Senecaville, received word Sunday of the unexpected death of their daughter-in-law, Mrs. Laurence Nelson Meighen, Lompoc Calif., which occurred at Lompoc. Mrs. Meighen was formerly Miss Electa Madora LeBouef, Lake Charles, LA. She and Cpl., Meighen of Camp Cooke, Calif., were married last April 14 at Senecaville with Rev. F. R. Gaugler, pastor of the Methodist Church there, officiating. When Cpl. Meighen returned to camp, Mrs. Meighen went to lake Charles and three week ago joined him in California living at Lompoc, a town near Camp Cooke. Details as to cause of the death were not given, Cpl, Meighen is accompanying his wife's body to her home in Louisiana for funeral services and burial. Jeffersonian, 06 Jun 1944

Mellott, Elizabeth Sprowl: Elizabeth Sprowl Mellott, 80, of Water Street, Barnesville, died April 5, 1984 in Barnesville Hospital. She was born July 27, 1903 in Centerville, a daughter of the late Henry and Cora Riggle Sprowl. She was a Protestant by faith and was preceded in death by her husband, David Mellott Sr., in 1979; one sister, Lettie Duke; three brothers, William, George and Samuel Sprowl; a daughter and a son. Surviving are five sons, Charles with whom she resided, James of East Liverpool, Alfred of Bellaire, David of Dayton and George of Lisbon; three daughters, Hilda Huntsman of Barnesville, Agnes Pinkerton of Lisbon and Ruth Evans of Claysville; three sisters, Irene Kent of Dennison, Margaret Gilham of Flushing, and Orpha Ellifritz of East Finley, PA., three brothers James Sprowl of Barnesville, John of Cadiz and Alfred of New Martinsville; 39 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Services were held Sunday from the Kelly-Kemp Funeral Home, Bethesda, with Rev. John Jackson officiating. Mercer, Ira: Ira Mercer, resident of 72 Westlawn Drive, Mansfield, Ohio died at Mansfield Hospital Saturday morning July 6th. He was born at Harrisville on April 17, 1892, a son of Jacob and Effie Mercer. On November 15, 1920 he was married to Elsie Gilliland who died January 29, 1965. For more than 20 years the Mercer family lived on a farm north of Barnesville. In 1954 the family moved to Mansfield where Mr. Mercer was employed with the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the American Legion, attended the Methodist Church and was active in the Retman's Club. Surviving are two sons, Kenneth of Houston, Texas, Dean of Saudia Arabia; two grandson's one sister, Mrs. Anna Pogue of Ravenna and one brother Harold of Chagrin Falls. One son, John died December 9, 1944. Funeral services were held Monday, July 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the Finefrock Funeral Home in Mansfield.  Merrill, Wilbert: Wilbert Merrill STEUBENVILLE, Ohio — Wilbert “Wid,” “Hoofy,” “Buck” Merrill, 89, of Steubenville, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at his home. He was born Aug. 26, 1917, in Steubenville, the son of the late Samuel and Alice Casto Merrill. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Pansy Mason Merrill in 1997, whom he married in 1940; a son, John Merrill in 2003; a stepson James Mason in 2002; six brothers, Raymond, Everett, Calvin, James, Robert and Samuel Merrill; and three sisters, Nell Merrill, Grace Thompson and Wilma Lingo. Hoofy worked for 43 years as a millwright for Weirton Steel in the Steubenville plant. He was a member of the 25-Year Club of Weirton Steel and he was a farmer. Hoofy is survived by a daughter, Alice “Janie” Vucjak of Steubenville; a son, Gary (Donna) Merrill of Steubenville; two grandsons, Joseph Vucjak and John Merrill (Toni); five granddaughters, Yvonne (John) Bonitatibus, Pennie Thomas, Amanda (Joel) Tachoir, Christine (Hector) Herrera, and Sarah Merrill; seven great-grandchildren, Anna Bonitatibus, Rachel and Ryan Merrill, Lucca Tachoir, Enrique Herrera, Zackary and Dylan Clayton; and a very dear friend thought of as a son, Brian Andreas. Visitation for Hoofy will be Friday, March 30, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the McClave-Chandler-Mills Funeral Home, 611 N. 4th St., Steubenville, where funeral services will be held Saturday, March 31, at 11 a.m. in the McClave Chapel with Rev. Merryman, Mildred C.: Mildred C. Merryman, 90, of Rose Hill Towers, Bellaire, formerly of Quaker City, died Friday, Dec 30, 1994 at City Hospital, Bellaire. She was born Feb 25, 1904 in Colorado. She was a member of the West Bellaire United Methodist Church at Bellaire, United Methodist Women, Bellaire Senior Center, and Order of Eastern Star Barnesville Chapter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Forrest H. Merryman; one brother, Harry Taylor; a granddaughter. Surviving are two sons, Ralph R. of Bellaire and Harold R. "Bud" of Dillonvale; one daughter, Loretta Lindner of Anthony, FL.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson. Merryman, William F.: William F. Merryman, 71, Lincoln Ave., Shadyside, died Saturday, Jan 27, 1996 at his residence. He was born Nov. 9, 1924 in Bellaire, a son of the late Harold L. and Dorothy McLane Merryman. A retired employee of Merryman Buick Co. Bellaire and Long Auto, Shadyside, he was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church Shadyside, American Legion Post 46 of Benwood where he was past commander, the Shadyside Boosters. He served as a little League coach for 20 years in Shadyside and was an Army veteran of WW II. He was preceded in death by a son, John Merryman. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Smith Merryman; five sons, Thomas W., Kenneth L., Timothy H. and Randy J., all of Shadyside and Patrick L. of Sarasota, FL.; two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Amy) Lowe of Shadyside and Mrs. Doug (Sue Ann) Koch of Poland, Ohio; three brothers, Robert E. of Shadyside, Paul L. of Burleson, Texas, and Donald L. of Bellaire; 13 grandchildren. Milhoan, Kathy Ann: Kathy Ann Milhoan, 31, of Willow Grove Rd. St. Clairsville, died Saturday morning in Barnesville Hospital. She was born December 5,1957 in Wheeling, the daughter of Joseph and Anna Marie Bartnicki of St. Clairsville. She was the owner-operator of Hair Impressions in Barnesville and an aerobics instructor at The Ohio Valley Racquet Health and Fitness Club. She was a Catholic. Surviving in addition to her parents are her husband, David Milhoan; one son, Brandon, one daughter, Ashley, both of the home; two brothers Allen Bartnicki of Eden, NY., Gary Bartnicki of Maynard. Friends will be received at the Kelly-Kemp Funeral Home, Bethesda, Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Paul Welton officiating. Miller, Esther Corrine : Esther Corrine Miller, 65, of Washington St. formerly of Wheelersburg, died early this morning at Scioto Memorial Hospital. A native of Wheelersburg she was a member of Wheelersburg Eastern Star 516 and the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband Grant Phillip Miller; a son Stephen G. Miller of Kingston; a daughter Linda A. Miller of Gallipolis; tow brothers, Kenneth William Aeh and Paul Leslie Aeh of Wheelersburg; three sisters Mrs. Clarice Mucha of Portsmouth, Mrs. Bertha Duduit and Mrs. Lell Smith of Wheelersburg and two grandchildren. Miller, Franklin Lee: Franklin Lee Miller, Jr., Third Class Petty Officer, BT3, 31, with the USS Worden in the Persian Gulf, formerly of Alledonia, died Feb 6, 1993 in the Arab Emirates as the result of an auto accident. He was born Dec 25, 1961 in Wellsburg, WV., a son of Franklin Miller Sr. of Beallsville and Mary Gibson of Alledonia. He was a 1981 graduate of Beallsville High School and a U.S. Navy veteran of Desert Storm. Surviving in addition to his parents, are his wife, Esther Ibanez Miller of Manila Philippines; his stepmother, Pastor Fran Miller of Beallsville; a sister, Pam Perkins of Alledonia; two stepbrothers, Ray Wilson and Doug Wilson, both of Beallsville; a stepsister, Sgt. Rhonda Wettberg of Brooks AFB in San Antonio, TX., his paternal grandmother Wilma Miller of Wellsburg; maternal grandparents, Charles and Margaret Wright Gibson of Short Creek, WV., one nephew, Craig Perkins, and a niece, Susan Perkins, both of Alledonia. Miller, Frank M. : Frank M. Miller, 70, died at the home of his niece, Mrs. Howard Guiler on the Sarahsville-Senecaville Road, Monday noon. He was the son of the late Henry and Mary Ann Miller. Surviving are two half-brothers, Malvin Miller of Detroit, Michigan, and Earl Miller of Zanesville and his step mother, Mrs. Dora Harbin of Zanesville. Miller, John H. : John Henry Miller, 65, died last Sunday morning at his home here. He suffered a stroke of paralysis two years ago and since had been in failing health. Surviving are his widow, Vena; five children, Delbert, East Union; Mabel, Ralph and Doris, Cleveland, and Mrs. Clifford King, Caldwell; three brothers, Tom, Akron; Jack and Charles, East Union and four sisters, Mrs. John Floyd, Freeport; Mrs. Bertie Ball, Eva; Mrs. Ira Clark, Caldwell, and Mrs. Nathan Wickham, Caldwell. Miller, 52, Germano, Ohio born May 4 1892 in German township, Harrison County Ohio, died suddenly while at work at the Carnegie Illinois Steel Mills at Mingo Junction Saturday. He was a son of H. A. and Sarah C. Wood-Miller, both deceased. He was married to Mary Ethel Benedict, Nov 25 1914, who survives with the following children: Sgt. Robert Miller of Fort Benning, GA., Pfc. Virgil Miller, Hawaiian Islands; Seaman 1st. Class Donald Miller, Bremerton Washington naval yards; Donna, Marilyn, Joseph Jr. and Larry at home; one sister, Mrs. Jesse R. Leas of Jewett; one brother, Homer Miller of Springfield, Ohio. The deceased was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church at Germano since childhood. Funeral services at the home at Germano in charge of Rev. A. C. Berger assisted by Rev. Charles Rothel. Time to be announced later, depending on arrival of sons from the army. The body was removed from the Porter Funeral Home at Jewett to the home at Germano Monday afternoon where friends will be received until time of services. Interment in Germano Cemetery. Miller, Otis E.: Otis E. Miller, 85, Flushing, died Saturday evening, Feb 6, 1982 at the Barnesville Health Care Center. He was born July 26, 1896 in Barnesville, a son of the late George and Lenora Person Miller. A retired miner-mechanic he was a veteran of WWI, a member of the Methodist Church, life member of the American Legion Post No. 366, and the Masonic Lodge F & AM 298 of Flushing. Preceding him in death were his wife, Beulah, and a son, Warren. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Doris) Taylor, Westerville; Mrs. Harry (Jane) Bell, Indianapolis, IN., and Mrs. Dan (Jean) Smith, Flushing; one son, O. Edward Miller Jr., Gahanna; sixteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth and William Miller, both of Barnesville and one sister, Mrs. Edna Agar, Barnesville. Millhorn, Mrs. Anna : Mrs. Walter Leach of Belford Street, has been notified of her sister, Mrs. Anna Millhorn, which occurred suddenly late Tuesday afternoon in Columbus. Mrs. Millhorn resided most of her life here, before going to Columbus in 1920. Surviving are the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. B. C. Heber. Columbus; Mrs. William Patterson, Lancaster; Mrs. Robert Rose, Athens; Mrs. Walter Leach of Caldwell; John Harrison of Caldwell and William Harrison of Athens. Funeral services will be held in Columbus, Friday at 1 p.m. after which the body will be brought to Byesville where final rites will be held and burial made in the Byesville Cemetery at 4 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Leach and Mr. and Mrs. John Harrison went to Columbus Wednesday to remain for funeral services on Friday. Milligan, Emil J. : Emil J. Milligan, 88, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, of Zanesville, formerly of Crooksville, died at 6:05 p.m. Thursday 28 Aug 2003, at Sunyview Nursing Home following a brief illness. He was born Jan 23 1915, in McLuney, a son of the late John and Stella Young Milligan. He was a former employee of the China Pottery and was a shipping dept. foremen for Dura Corp. In Zanesville. He retired from Pcc Airfoils in Crooksville. He had 63 consecutive years of ABC League Bowling and had been inducted in the Zanesville, Ohio and National Bowling Halls of Fame, and 57 year member and Past Master of Peerless Lodge 591 F & AM of Crooksville, Valley of Cambridge Scottish Rite, Eagles Lodge 302 and American Legion Post 29 Both of Zanesville. He was a Sergeant in the U. S. Marine Corps during WW II and during the Great Depression he was a surveyor in the Civilian Conservation Corps building National Park Roads in Montana and Wyoming. He is survived by a daughter and sons-in-law, Rosiland and Herb Dennis of Springfield, IL., Erin and David Delaney and Jodie Milligan all of Zanesville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Betty Milligan of Hebron and Danford and June Milligan of Zanesville; grandchildren, Lara, Matthew and Mark Dennis, Hope Curtis, Ryan Kimble, Scott Keffer and Chase Delaney; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Hannah Curtis, Jackson Blackwell and Andrew and Michael Dennis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia M. Taylor Milligan, who died Nov 17, 1992; brothers, Owen Eldon, Leo, and Cyril Milligan; sisters, Lillian Perry and Anne Ernestine Sheppard. Milligan, John C. : John C. Milligan, 60, died at his home in Crooksville, at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning following a four day brief illness of diphtheria. Mr. Milligan was a member of the Modern Woodsmen, the United Mine Workers of America and the Iliff M. E. Church. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Stella Milligan; seven sons, Walter Leo of New Jersey, Cyril of Crooksville and Owen, Ermil, Eldon, Dale, and Robert of the home; two daughters, Miss Ernestine Milligan of the home and Mrs. Oscar Perry of New Lexington; two brothers, William and Luther Milligan of Center Point IN.; and one sister, Mrs. Jane Boutrager of New Philadelphia. She was born 24 Apr 1911, in Cambridge, daughter of the late Edward B, and Blanche Burt Milligan. Miss Milligan was a lifelong member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Cambridge, where her grandfather, Fr. William V. Milligan served as minister for 44 years from 1854 to 1898. She was a 1927 graduate of Cambridge High School and attended Ohio University for two years. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She obtained an American Red Cross Lifesaving Certificate, and was a master swimming instructor. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Peacock, Dorothy Driggs and Catherine Campbell. She leaves seven nieces and nephews, Wilmer V. Driggs of Baltimore, formerly of Cambridge, Jan Heise of Belmont, Calif., William Peacock of Palos Hills, Ill., Marjorie Peacock Bennett of Springboro, Bob Campbell of San Anselmo, Calif., Dr. Steven Campbell of Emmaus, PA., and Carol Campbell Rothery of Amherst, Maine and a number of great-nieces and nephews. Mills,Forest I. : Forest I. Mills, 82, formerly of Saltillo, Ohio, died at 7:14 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, 2005, at Genesis Hospice, Zanesville. She was born Aug. 13, 1922, in Monday Creek Township, Perry County, to the late Herbert A. and Lucy E. Wolfe Shaffer. Mrs. Mills was a lifetime resident of the area; retired in 1973 after 20 years with Essex Wire of Lancaster; and was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, New Lexington. She is survived by six children, Florence (Jack) Filkins of Saltillo, Frances Gelzhiser of Pittsburgh, Pa., Donna Wolfe of Saltillo, Mona (Rick) Morgan of Roseville, Carolyn (Audry Jr.) Hinkle of Saltillo and John A. (Lois) Mills Jr. of New Lexington; 30 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Fauley of Bristol, Gladys (Robert) Householder of New Lexington and Alice (Jack) Gray of Lancaster; and a brother, Paul W. (Jodi) Shaffer Sr. of New Lexington. She was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband, John A. Mills Sr., on Feb. 18, 1990; a daughter, Darlene Danielson; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a sister, Edna Burgess; and a brother, Herbert A. Shaffer Jr. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 23, 2005, at the Roberts Funeral Home, 304 Mill St., New Lexington. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at the funeral home with Pastor Justin VanOrman and the Rev. Arthur Potts officiating. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery near Somerset.

Milner, Adda: Adda Milner, 97, Morristown, died Sunday morning Feb 14, 1993 in Star Nursing Home, Morristown. She was born June 25, 1895 at Tacoma, a daughter of the late J. E. and Ella Linch Moore. She was a member of the Morristown Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. C. Milner. Surviving are one son, Harry Milner of Morristown; four grandchildren; and nice great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Kelly-Kemp Funeral Home, Morristown, on Tuesday. Services will be held today Feb 17, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Tom Fish and Rev. Karl Fitch officiating. Burial will be made in Union Cemetery, Morristown. Barnesville Enterprise pg. 2, 17 Feb 1993

Mitchell, Mrs. Ella : Stricken June4, while visiting her son, Captain David W. Mitchell at the Boston Navy yard, Mrs. Ella Hewetson Mitchell, 87, St. Clairsville, died at 10:10 Thursday morning in a Quincy Mass, hospital. She will be brought to the Johnston mortuary for services. A daughter of John and Elizabeth Osborne Hewetson, she was born on W. Main St., residing in St. Clairsville all of her life, except for a few years spent at Barnesville and Amanda, and was a member of the Thoburn Methodist Church. She was the last active charter member of the Tuesday Night Club, which was organized at a party given November 5, 1897, her birth anniversary. Her death followed a period of failing health that began last December. In March she went to the home of her son where a stroke occurred Sunday and she never rallied. Her husband Attorney Wilson Mitchell died January 8, 1940, at the family home E. Main St. She leaves two sons, the Boston Naval officer and Alfred Hewetson Mitchell of the home, as well as three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Times Recorder, 16 Jun 1944

Mizik, William G. : William G. Mizik, 19, died at 7:40 a.m. Monday Dec 8, 1975 at the home of his parents, George and Helen Mizik, Caldwell. He was born Sept 23, 1956 in Noble County and attended Shenandoah High School. He graduated from the State School for the Blind, Columbus, in 1974 and was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Belle Valley. In addition to his parents he leaves  four brothers, Robert Mizik of Oregon, OH., Thomas of Ft. Carson, CO., Patrick and James of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Janet Skaggs, Grove City, Audrey and Constance of the home; and his grandmother Mrs. Elizabeth Kracinovsky, Duquesne, PA. Friends were received at the Estadt Funeral Home where the Rosary devotions were held this Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock from Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Belle Valley with the Rev. Edward Maloney officiating. Burial will be made in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Belle Valley. Journal, 11 Dec 1975 pg. 2
