Hatcher, Catherine M.: Catherine M. Hatcher, 87, formerly of St. Clairsville, passed away Thursday morning, March 7, 2002, at Hillside Acres Willard. Catherine was born Oct 2, 1914 in Bellaire to Augustus and Amelia Funk Tirrie. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed contributing to the American Heart and Kidney Funds. Se was preceded in death by her parents, sister Lillian, brother Charles, husband Floyd St. John and husband Kenneth Hatcher, daughter Judith St. John Johnson of Ore. and daughter Myra St. John Kelley of Youngstown. Surviving are daughter Phyllis Jean Mako and her husband Al of Stockton CA., sister in law, Rosella Reed McCabe of St. Clairsville and daughter Carole Ann Noble and her husband John of Plymouth, Ohio, 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours or services. Herliby Tinsman Moleno Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Hatcher, Clarence A.: Clarence A. Hatcher, 76, Summit St., Bethesda, formerly of Belmont, died June 16, 1988 at Wheeling Medical Park Hospital. He was born Dec 28, 1911 at Belmont, a don of the late Stephen Douglas and Addie Wilson Hatcher. He was a retired farmer, former supervisor for township roads, and former employee of Ohio Valley Paving Co., Belmont. He was a Methodist by faith. Surviving are his wife, Martha Calvert Hatcher; two sons, Donald of Rt. 1 Bethesda, and Gary of Indianapolis, IN; a daughter, Mrs. John (Rosalie) Pasko of Monroe, Michigan; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Jessie Hatcher, Lura Medley and Alta Hatcher, and three brother, Harvey, Ervie and Delbert. Services were held Saturday afternoon from the Kelly-Kemp Funeral Home with Rev. John Jackson officiating. Burial followed in Chestnut Level Cemetery, Belmont. Hatcher, Edsel Allen: Edsel A. Hatcher, 68, 3566 Darrow Rd. Stow, formerly of Bethesda, died Jan 21, 1990. He was born in Belmont County January 10, 1922, son of the late Oscar T. and Celia Gill Hatcher. He had lived in Stow since 1962. He was an equipment superintendent for Independence Construction Co., member of Mt. Akra Lodge 680 F & AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge, and Al Koran Shrine. Surviving are his wife, Carol J.; daughters, Sharon Kirchler of Cuyahoga Falls, Lana Dee Raether of Millbank, SD., Diana Rae Hatcher of Akron; three grandchildren; sisters, Evagene Skinner, Marguerite Simonson and Shirley Roby, all of Belmont. Friends were received at Redmon Funeral Home, Stow, with cremation following. Masonic services were also held. Barnesville Enterprise

Hatcher, Kenneth Earl: Kenneth Earl Hatcher, 75, of West Cross St. Morristown, died Wednesday March 3, 1999 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born February 24, 1924 in Belmont County, a son of the late Lewis Hatcher and Mildred White Hatcher. He was a retired heavy equipment operator, a protestant and a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union. Surviving are his wife, Catherine Tirre Hatcher; four sisters, Pat (Dorothy) Wesley of Belmont, Shirley Roby, and Mary Jo Kluskey of St. Clairsville. Margaret Johnson of Tempe, AZ.; tow brothers, Richard Hatcher of Modesto, CA., and Kerry (Butch) Hatcher of Jacksonville, FL.; several nieces and nephews. Services were held Saturday at Kelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, 204 Main St. Morristown, with Rev. Charles Clark officiating. Burial followed in Chestnut Level Cemetery, Belmont. Hatcher, Lewis Edwin: Lewis Edwin Hatcher, 65, Bethesda, died Tuesday morning in Barnesville. He was born at Chestnut Level near Belmont, Mary 16, 1894 the son of Thomas J. Hatcher and Nancy J. Wilson Hatcher. He was married to Mildred White who preceded him in death in 1946. He was an equipment operator for the Paul Perkins Construction Co. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Wesley of Hendrysburg, and Miss Margaret Jane Hatcher of Martins Ferry; four sons, Kenneth of Stockton, CA., Richard, of Hendrysburg, Kerry of Bethesda and Garry of Duluth, MN., six grandchildren; sis sisters, Mrs. Foresta Powell, Beallsville; Mrs. Ethel Moore, Belmont RD; Mrs. Mary Moore, St. Clairsville, Mrs. Mabel Hunt, Columbus, Mrs. Nellie Barnes of Canton and Mrs. Bessie Shepherd of Bethesda; one brother Luther Hatcher, Des Moines, Iowa. The body is at the Kelly-Kemp Funeral Home in Bethesda where services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in charge of Rev. Francis Smith. Burial in Chestnut Level Cemetery.

Hatcher, Oscar T. : Oscar Hatcher who has been ill for many months, but seriously ill the past two week at the Wheeling hospital passed away Saturday morning at that place and was buried Tuesday. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Celia Gill Hatcher, 3 daughters, Marguerite, Evagene and Shirley, one son Edsel and one granddaughter, several sisters and brothers. Hatcher, William : William Hatcher, 95, Belmont's oldest resident, died Tuesday night at 9 p.m. in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Hawkenberry, Belmont. The deceased was born near Morristown, Oct 7, 1856, a son of Commodore and Sarah Teaner Hatcher and lived his entire life in the Belmont area. His wife Mary White Hatcher, preceded him in death 18 years ago. He was a member of the Chestnut Level Christian Church. Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Hawkenberry; one son John Hatcher of Byesville; 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The body is at the Kelly-Kemp Funeral Home, Bethesda, where it will remain for services Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. Rev. Applegarth of the Bergholz Christian Church will officiate and interment will follow in the Chestnut Level Cemetery.

Havener, O. S. : O. S. Havener, 82, a retired farmer, died at his home in Summerfield early last Thursday morning. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Otto of Canton and Vernon of Summerfield. Also surviving are 32 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Summerfield Church of Christ, Sunday afternoon by Stanley Bates, with burial in the Summerfield Cemetery, in charge of the Gardner Funeral Home at Stafford. Hawk, Mrs. Robert : Friends in this city have received word of the death of Mrs. Robert Hawk, 40, formerly Miss Marietta Marquette, Cambridge, which occurred Monday night at her home in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio. She had been in ill health for some time but her death was sudden. For some time Mrs. Hawk was supervisor of health nurses in five southeastern Ohio counties, one being Guernsey. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Cuyahoga Falls and burial was made in a cemetery there. Mr. Hawk is a nephew of Mrs. Freda Bates, Eaton Ave. Jeffersonian, 18 Mar 1942 pg. 5

Hawthorne, Clinton Leroy : Funeral services for Clinton Leroy Hawthorne, prominent railroad official, will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., at the Johnston Funeral Home, Rev. R. P. MacDonald, of the U. P. Church, officiating. Interment will be made at Union Cemetery. Mr. Hawthorne died early Thursday morning at his home, Taylor Ave. He suffered a heart attack, Tuesday from which he never rallied. He was born at Harrisville, Feb 19 1880, a son of William S. and Laura Hendon Hawthorne. He was employed by the B. & O. Railroad and at the time of his death was station agent and telegrapher at Bridgeport. He had been a member of the telegrapher's union for 25 years. He was a member of the U. P. Church and the following Masonic Lodges; Belmont Lodge No. 16; St. Clairsville Chapter No. 17, and Belmont Council No. 54. Thursday evening he would have become a member of the Knights Templar. Surviving are his wife, Emma M. Caldwell Hawthorne and the following children; Mary E. and Frank, St. Clairsville, and Arthur, Columbus. Hayes, Elizabeth June : Elizabeth June ''Libby'' Thornberry Hayes, age 89, of Summit Acres Nursing Home, Caldwell, Ohio died Wednesday morning (8/28/2002) at Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta, Ohio. She was born 7/18/1913 in Belmont, Ohio, a daughter of the late Ross & Emma Ewers Thornberry. She was a graduate of Belmont High School and had received her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Ohio University in Athens Ohio. She was a beloved kindergarten teacher, having begun her career in 1934 in Smithfield, Ohio. She subsequently taught in St. Clairsville and Marietta, Ohio retireing in 1978 from Marietta City Schools. She was a member of the Caldwell United Methodist Church, the Church Circle, The Caldwell Garden Club, The Noble County Business and Professional Women, Hazen Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Bethesda, Ohio and several Bridge Clubs in the Caldwell Area.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence L. Hayes who died 4/14/1966 and 1 brother Richard Thornberry.
Surviving are a daughter Lana L. (David) Anderson of Caldwell; 1 son Lawrence L. Hayes (and friend Sharon Garrett) of Sharon, Ohio; 6 grandchildren Alicia (Chris) Lagana of Hilliard, Ohio, Annelle (Mike) Peugh of Gahanna, Ohio, Abigail (Jeff) Sheard of Hilliard, Ohio, Amy (Eric) Nilsen of Westerville, Ohio, Eliza and Levi Hayes of Caldwell, Ohio; 5 great grandsons Matthew and Adam King, Grant Peugh, Sam and Joseph Lagana; and her twin sister Eleanor M. Moore of Caldwell, Ohio.
Libby deeply loved children and was passionate about her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Friends may call Friday (8/30/2002) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home in Caldwell. Funeral services will be held on Saturday (8/31/2002) at 10:00 AM at the Caldwell United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery in Marietta, Ohio.

Hayes, Mrs. Lula : Funeral services for Mrs. Lula Hayes, 79, of North Sixth Street, will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Dean-Swope Funeral Home with Rev. A. J. Kestle, pastor of the Grace Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park. Mrs. Hayes, the widow of Edward C. Hayes, died Monday morning at the McKinley rest home on Maple Ave. from a heart ailment. She was born in Cambridge, the daughter of Thomas and Margaret Whit Beymer and resided in Columbus and Toledo for a number of years, but had spent most of her life in Zanesville. She was a member of the Grace Methodist Church and Sunday school, Order of Eastern Star, Amrou Caldrom and the Past High Priestess association and was a past worthy high priestess of White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 8. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Harold Gibson, St. Louis Ave.; a granddaughter, Betty Gibson, a sister, Miss Mary Beymer of Cambridge; two brothers Clark, Cambridge and Wilbur W., Chicago; and a niece Mrs. Bernard Rowe of Cleveland. Hayes, Mrs. Ruth : Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Hayes, 25, who died Saturday morning at 11 o'clock at her home on Grant Street, Zanesville, following a long illness were conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Dean Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Cyrus V. Wells, pastor of the Church of God, officiated and burial was made in Woodlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Hayes, the wife of Albert Hayes, had been in a serious condition for the past three months. She was born in Noble County, but had resided in Zanesville for the past six years. Besides her husband she is survived by a son, Earl David Hayes of the home; her father, John Brownrigg, Noble county; a sister, Mrs. Mary McGrath, Reinersville; and four brothers, Paul, John and Loren Brownrigg, Reinersville and Virgil Brownrigg, Mingo Junction. Hays, Wayne L. : Wayne Levere Hays, 77 12 Wildwood Rd. St. Clairsville, died Friday, February 10, 1989 in Wheeling Hospital. He was born May 13, 1911 in Bannock, a son of the late Walter and Bertha Taylor Hays.
He was a former congressman, former chairman of the board of Citizens National Bank of Belmont County, a former school teacher, township trustee, Belmont County commissioner, state legislator, Belmont County School Board member, County Board of elections member and a Democratic committeeman.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, William T. and John D. Hays. Surviving are his wife, Patricia Peak Hays; one daughter, Mrs. Paul (Martha Brigitta) Steiner, Columbus; one sister, Virginia Maxine Taylor of Sandusky; two grandchildren, Brigitta and Paul Steiner of Columbus.
Friends were received at the Beck Funeral Home St. Clairsville, on Sunday. Services were held from East Richland Evangelical Friends Church on Monday afternoon. Burial was made in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Arthur G.
