

Glaub, Lewis : Funeral services for Lewis Glaub, 79, of South Zanesville, will be held at 9:00 Tuesday morning at St. Nicholas Catholic Church. Burial will be in Mt. Olives Cemetery. Mr. Glaub died Saturday afternoon at Good Samaritan Hospital following a long illness of complications. He was admitted the hospital Nov. 18. A native of Marietta, he spent the past 40 years in Muskingum County. He was a member of St. Nicholas Church and the Columbian association. He was formerly employed by the American Rolling Mill Company. Surviving are one sisters Mrs. Anna Kern of Marietta; a nephew Herman Gluab of Norval Park and a niece Mrs. Anna Kohler of South Zanesville. Goings, Catherine: Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Goings, 74, of Kendall Ave., are to be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church. Mrs. Goings had made a trip to Dayton to visit a son, Tom Goings, for Mother's Day and suffered a heart attack while visiting there. She was a life-long member of St. Mary's Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was the widow of Aldis Edward Goings, who died in 1943. Surviving besides the son with whom she was visiting are six other sons. Jack of Miamisburg, Paul of Lucasville, Frederick of Canton, Richard 1127 22nd St., Cpl. Raymond Goings, with the Army in Germany and Norman of California; three daughters, Miss Catherine Goings of California, Mrs. Helen Greene of Dayton, and Mrs. Martha Juric of California and three sisters, Mrs. Helen Ginn of Ironton, Mrs. Norman Harvey of Dayton, and Mrs. Edward Moone of Wisconsin. Rev. Charles Jones is to officiate at the services and burial is to be in Greenlawn Cemetery under direction of Mart Glynn Funeral Home. Recitation of the rosary is to be at 7:30 tonight at the funeral home where friends may call.
Goings, Richard E. : Richard E. Goings, 54, of Lucasville was dead on arrival Tuesday at Mercy Hospital after and apparent heart attack. A native of Wheelersburg and a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and James Dickey Post American Legion, he was a World War II Army veteran. Goings was employed at Save-a-Mint Market. Survivors include his wife, Betty Collins Goings; tow daughters, Mrs. Karen Roberts of Ft. Lee, VA and Suanne Going of Los Vegas, NV.; five brothers, Paul of Grove City, James of Canton, Raymond of Lansing KY, Thomas of Miamisburg and Norman of Park City, UT; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Walker of San Francisco, CA, and Mrs. Martha Juric of Chula Vista, CA, and three grandchildren. Services are to be Friday at 10 a.m. at the church with Msgr. Hubert Rubeck officiating and burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Melcher Funeral Home from 7 to 9 tonight, and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Recitation of the rosary is planned Thursday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home, and military graveside rites are to be conducted by the Post American Legion.

Goodwell, Jerry : C. M. Goodwill, of Macksburg, was called to Corning last week by the death of his brother, Jerry Goodwill. The deceased was born at Macksburg in 1861, moving to Corning about fifty years ago where he was employed as an oil well driller. Death followed a stroke six weeks ago. Surviving are seven daughters, four sons, seventeen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the home of a son. C. M. Goodwill, and burial was made at Millerstown. C. M. Goodwill, Miss L. Goodwill , John Hutchins and Mrs. E. E. Blake of Dudley attended the funeral. The Journal, 28 Nov 1940
Gordon, Fred : Fred Gordon, 64, of Sarahsville Route, died Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Guernsey Memorial Hospital, Cambridge. Death was due to a heart condition. He was born near Sharon to Willis and Mary Russell Gordon on June 22, 1893. He was married to Clara King April, 1921, who preceded him in death three years ago today, June 11. He married again in October, 1955, to Helen Spence who survives in addition to eight children; Mrs. Marcella Parson of Sarahsville route; Mrs. Wilda Hughes of Canton; Mrs. Alma Lee of Harriettsville; Mrs. Ruth Fogle and Mrs. Sula Johnson of Caldwell; Floyd of the U.S. Navy; Carroll and Lola of the home. There are 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Jesse Gordon of Summerfield, Ode Gordon of Los Angeles, CA and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Poling of Akron. Two daughters are deceased. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the DAV Summerfield Legion and of the East Union Methodist Church. The body will be removed from the McVay Funeral Home Thursday afternoon to the family home. Services will be held at the East Union Methodist Church Friday June 13 at 1:30 p.m., with the Rev. James L. Mason pastor of the Caldwell Free Methodist Church. Burial will be made at the East Union Cemetery.
Gordon. Jesse J. : Jesse J. Gordon. 82, near Summerfield, died at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday Sep 24, 1968 at Cambridge Hospital following a brief illness. A retired farmer, he was born July 8, 1886 in Morgan County, the son of Clement and Mary Russell Gordon and spent most of his lifetime in Noble County. Mr. Gordon leaves his wife, the former Myrtle King; four sons, Herman of Sarahsville, Willard of Caldwell, James, Zanesville and Lloyd of Summerfield; three daughters, Mrs. Cleo Hutchins, Caldwell, Mrs. Mary Hayes, Caldwell and Mrs. Helen Bates, Zanesville; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Poling, Akron. Two sons are deceased. Friends may call at the McVay Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. James Mason officiating. Burial will be in the East Union Cemetery.
Gordon, Martin Ode : Martin Ode Gordon, 80, of Zanesville, a native of Noble County and retired construction worker, died at 8:55 a.m. Monday Dec 4 at Bethesda hospital where he had been a patient two weeks following a stroke. He was born Sep 17, 1887, at Rich Valley in this county, a son of Willis and Mary Russell Gordon. Mr. Gordon formerly lived at Los Angeles, CA. for 17 years and returned to Zanesville five years ago following his retirement. He Attended First Free Methodist church in Zanesville. He is survived by his widow, Clara Alice Phelps Gordon; two sons, Willis of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Frederick of Los Angeles, CA.; two daughters, Miss Mabel Gordon of Caldwell and Mrs. Lucille Geary of Lincoln, Nebraska; a brother, Jesse Gordon of Summerfield; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Poling of Akron; in addition to eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Three brothers and one sister are deceased, including Fred, Ben and Sullivan Gordon and Nina Williams. The body was removed to the Arthur Bryan Funeral Home on Maple Ave. where services were held Thursday Dec 7 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev, James Mason, formerly of Caldwell and pastor of the Clover Street church officiating, assisted by the Rev. Donald W. Allen of the Caldwell Church of Christ. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery, Zanesville. Journal-Leader
Gordon, Myrtle : Myrtle Gordon, 94, of Summerfield Route 1, died Sunday Oct 6, 1985 in Good Samaritan Medical Center in Zanesville. She was born May 10, 1891 in Noble County to Jacob and Edith Moore King, She was a Free Methodist by faith. She is survived by three sons. Herman of Summerfield and James and Lloyd of Zanesville; three daughters, Mrs. Cleo Hutchins of Caldwell Route 2; Mary Larson of Caldwell; and Mrs. Dighton (Helen) Bates of Zanesville; 17 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse J. Gordon in 1968; and three sons. Services were held Wednesday at McVay Funeral Home. Friends called Tuesday at the funeral home. Journal-Leader
Gordon, Richard A. : The U.S. Army Transport Cardinal O'Connell docked Friday at the San Francisco port of embarkation, with 2,024 bodies of veteran from the South Pacific, including that of Technician Fifth Grade Richard A. Gordon, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Gordon of Summerfield Route 1. The McVay-Schilling Funeral Home, Caldwell, has been notified by the Columbus depot that they will be immediately informed when the body arrives in Columbus. It is expected now that full military rites will be held the middle of next week. The body of the Noble County Veteran, who was killed in India, while working on the famous Burma Road, was one of 109 from the State of Ohio. Richard Gordon was born November 13, 1919, a son of J. J. and Myrtle C. King Gordon. He spent his early life in the Summerfield community and graduated from high school there. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, April 13, 1941, and was assigned to the 330th Engineer Corps, Co. C. He went overseas to India in Dec 1943, and was killed in action a few weeks later on January 13, 1944. By strange coincident, the veteran was born on the 13th, enlisted on the 13th, and killed on the 13th. Surviving are his parents of Summerfield Route1 and four brothers, Willard Gordon of Summerfield, James Gordon of Zanesville, Herman Gordon of Summerfield and Lloyd Gordon of the home. There are three sisters, including Mrs. Cleo Hutchins of Caldwell, wife of Elvin Hutchins, Helen Bates of Zanesville and Mary Moore of the Summerfield community. Mrs. Edith King, also of the Summerfield community is the only living grandmother. Full military rites will be held for the repatriated veteran with the Summerfield American Legion Post aided by members of the Caldwell patriotic organizations. Services will be held from the Summerfield Methodist Church with Rev. Clair Gray of Chandlersville officiating. Interment will be in charge of the McVay-Schilling Funeral Home at the cemetery in East Union. Journal-Leader
Gordon, William : William Gordon, 93, of Caldwell, died at 10:40 a.m. Monday in Bethesda Hospital. He was born Feb. 22, 1883 in Noble County. His wife, the former Victoria Watson, died in 1973. Surviving are a son, Stewart Gordon of Caldwell; a daughter, Mrs. Georgia Belle Guiler of Washington DC; five grandchildren. Gordon, William S. : William Stewart Gordon, 59, of Caldwell, died Thursday at Bethesda Hospital following a long illness. A Parts man for Caldwell Motor Co., Mr. Gordon was born April 12, 1919 in Dexter City , a son of William and Victoria Watson Gordon. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Caldwell and the Caldwell Odd Fellows Lodge. Mr. Gordon was a World War II Veteran, having served in the India and Burma campaigns. Surviving are his wife Betty Young Gordon; two daughters, Mrs. Alice Farley of Sarahsville and Mrs. Jean Peterson of Lowell; four grandchildren and a sister Mrs. Georgia Belle Guiler of University Park MD. Friends may call anytime Saturday at McVay Funeral Home at Caldwell where the family will be present from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Graham, Charles Wilgus : Funeral services for Charles Wilgus Graham,74, who died Tuesday night at his home on N. 13th Street, will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at the McMillen Funeral Home on East Wheeling Ave. Rev. W. D. Heaston, pastor of the First Methodist Church will be in charge and burial will be made in Kimbolton Cemetery. Mr. Graham had been seriously ill the past two weeks and had been ailing the last two years. He had been a resident of this city for the last 30 years and was employed as a carpenter at the Gregg Box factory. The deceased moved here from Kimbolton and was a member of the First Methodist Church. His wife preceded him in death six years ago. Surviving are one son, Charles Jr., Canton; one daughter, Mrs. Ray Van Dyne, Cambridge; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Clark, Columbus; one step-sister, Mrs. Zoe Taggart, Cambridge and six grandchildren. Graham, Jesse F. : Jesse F. Graham, 67, prominent farmer of southwest of Batesville, was found dead from a gunshot wounds about 100 yards from his home Monday morning at 2 o'clock. Mr. Graham had gone into the woods Sunday afternoon to kill hawks. When he did not return home a searching party was organized. It is believed that his gun was accidentally discharged as he was going through a fence near the Church of Christ. Surviving the deceased are his wife, Sarah Depew Graham; three children, Virgil L. Graham of Zanesville, Lillian Graham of the home and Mrs. Carrie Gallagher of Cambridge; three brothers, Samuel and Clyde Graham of Summerfield; Henry Graham of Caldwell; two sisters, Mrs. Harley Bates of near Summerfield and Mrs. Emma Christopher of Niles, Ohio. One child is deceased. Funeral services will be held from the Palestine Church Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock with Rev. James Gallagher officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Graham, Olive Ethel: Olive Ethel Graham, died suddenly Sunday morning, July 7, 1968 at the home of her sister, Mrs. Blanche Marmie, of Bethesda. She was born at Navada, Ohio on November 16, 1893, a daughter of the late Francis Malvern and Birdie Brown Giesey. Mrs. Graham was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church at Mt. Vernon and a member of the D of A Lodge in Barnesville. Surviving are one son, Vernon F. Graham of Mt. Vernon, three sisters Mrs. Blanche Marmie, Mrs. Minnie Miller and Mrs. Bert Powell of Barnesville, and one brother, Kenneth Giesey of Johnstown, Ohio. Preceding her in death were her husband, Clarence Vernon Graham in 1957 and one brother, Beryl Giesey in January of 1968. Friends were received at the Campbell Funeral Home where final rites were held with the Rev. Roy Hilliard officiating. Interment was made in Crestview Cemetery, Barnesville, Ohio. Graham, William I. : William I. Graham, 76, formerly of Noble County and later of Cumberland, died last Thursday night December 11, 1941, in the White Cross Hospital at Columbus. He had been a patient at the hospital since July. He had lived in the Cumberland vicinity most of his life and was a teacher in the Cumberland schools for a number of years. His wife died several years ago. Surviving are a son, C. B. Graham, of Chicago, IL., one daughter, Miss Ada Graham of Columbus and a half-brother, Robert Oliver, of Columbus. The body was removed to the Tom Funeral Home in Cumberland where services were held Sunday afternoon, with the Rev. E. W. Lodwick, of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, officiating. Grandone, Rose A.: Rose A. (Buttero) Grandone, 88,
formerly of 244 Belmont St., and the Lutheran Home, died peacefully Wednesday
November 3 in the Clinton Hospital.
Her husband Michael Grandone Sr. died in 1969. Rose is survived by one son
Michael Grandone Jr. and his wife Sandra of Worcester, a grandson Michael
Grandone III and a granddaughter Gina Marie Grandone. Rose is also survived by
three step-daughters Lillian Collinino, Mildred Faford and Eleanor D'Errico and
four sisters, Viola Racidlo, Santa Pratt, Mary Buttero and Jo Ann Lussier. Rose
was also predeceased by two sisters, Antonia Inzerillo and Angelina Broccoli.
Rose was born in South Barre, daughter of Nunzio and Assunta (Simmone) Grandone
and came to Worcester many years ago. Rose worked at the Olsen Manufacturing
Company for many years before she retired. Rose did volunteer work at the
Friendly House and the Worcester Senior Center. She was a long time member of
St. Stephens Church. Calling hours are private and at the family's convenience.
A funeral Mass will be held Saturday Nov. 6 at 10:30 AM in St. Stephens Church,
357 Grafton St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers
donations may be made to St. Stephens Church Renovation Fund, 16 Hamilton St.,
Worcester, MA 01604. The family has selected the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND
CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. to assist them with arrangements. Worcester
