Wain, Tom H.: Tom H. Wain, 77, Mills Road, St. Clairsville, died Thursday in Wheeling Hospital. He was born April 10, 1916 in Carrollton, son of the late Fred and Alice McKinnon Wain. He was a retired employee of Tri-State Asphalt Co., a member of the Morristown Christian Church, and a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Taylor Wain; a son , Tom C. of St. Clairsville; two granddaughters and three great-grandchildren. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Kelly-Kemp Funeral Home, Morristown, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday with Sam Batten officiating. Wallace, Daisy: Daisy Wallace, 78, of 410 E. Main St., Barnesville, died Saturday at her home. She was born June 20, 1910 in Fairview, a daughter of the late Harrison and Nancy Jewell Luyster. She was a member of the Barnesville Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel E.; three brothers; two sisters. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. William (Mae) Barylak of Seven Hills, Mrs. Lawrence (Beverly) Carpenter of Shreve, Mrs. Herschel (Rosalie) Dailey of Barnesville; one sister, Freda Gardiner of Fairview; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Campbell-Plumly Funeral Home, Barnesville, Monday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Ron Hopkins officiating. Wallace, Earl Wayne: Earl Wayne Wallace, 55, St. Clairsville died Saturday in Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling. He was born Nov 5, 1933 in Missouri, son of Delma Wallace of Coshocton and the late Bertha Lane Wallace. He was manager of Wagon Wheel Restaurant and Lounge, St. Clairsville and a Protestant, a veteran and a member of the VFW, American Legion and IBEW of Canton. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Reed. Surviving in addition to his father, are his wife, Wantanee Panikorn Wallace; two sons, David of Dover and Scott of St. Clairsville; two daughters Brenda Grasselli and Shawn Wallce, both of New Philadelphia; a stepdaughter Yolanda Lyons of St. Clairsville; three brothers, James of Dover, Carl of Fort Branch Ind. and Gary of Coshocton; two sisters, Leola Elswood of Conesville and Catherine Hootman of Coshocton; six grandchildren. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Beck Funeral Home St. Clairsville, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Rex Berry officiating. Wallace, Robin Elizabeth : Robin Elizabeth Piegan Wallace, 48, of Sterling Ave. Dover, died Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at her residence following an extended illness with cancer. Born June 4, 1953 in Belmont, she was a daughter of the late Stephen W. Piegan, Sr. and Nellie L. Withrow. She was a protestant by faith. Robin was employed by the Park Village Nursing Home at Dover. She is survived by her husband David W. Wallace. Also surviving are; Children; Rodney (Rachel) Carpenter, Jr. of Lancaster, Billie Diane (Jason) Mumma of Columbus, David W. Wallace II and Rachel E. Wallace of the home, two grandchildren; Madison Mumma of Columbus and Dominic Carpenter of Lancaster, sisters; Susan J. Shumaker of Bethesda, Stephanie D. (James) Coen of West Chester, PA., brothers; Richard A. Piegan of Bethesda, Stephen W. (Kelley) Piegan, Jr. of Belmont. OH, several nieces, nephews and special friend Brenda Grasselli. She was preceded in death by step-father, John Withrow and a brother Randal W. Piegan. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Waller, Glen Oscar : CALDWELL -- Glenn Oscar Waller, 87, of Caldwell, died Friday afternoon, Nov. 26, 1999, at Horn Nursing Center in Wooster. He was the father of Joyce Gessel of Wooster, Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East St., Caldwell, with the Rev. William Pickenpaugh officiating. Burial will be at Olive Cemetery in Caldwell. Friends may call today (Sunday) from 2-4 and 7-9 at the funeral home, where Masonic services will be conducted by Sharon Lodge 136 F&AM at 7:30. Memorial contributions may be made to Keith United Methodist Church. He was born May 20, 1912 in Keithtown to Oscar and Cleo (McKee) Waller and married Wilma Louise Frye. She died April 16, 1999. He was a retired carpenter and had operated the family farm for many years. He was a member of Keith United Methodist Church, Sharon Grange and Sharon Lodge 136 F&AM. Other survivors include a son, John Waller and his wife, Sandra, of Austin, Texas, daughters, Joanne Hanson and her husband, Vernon, of Beverly and Janette Waller of Bellflower; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hope Waller Schlegel and her husband, Irvin, of Pennsylvania. Walpole, George : Mrs. Fred Horn of Locust Ave. received word Monday of the death of her brother-in-law George Walpole at his home near Poplar Ridge in Morgan County. His death which occurred at 7:00 Monday morning following a year's illness from heart trouble. The deceased was a carpenter by trade. For a number of years he was connected with oil drilling activities in Morgan County. He was a member of the Chesterhill Masonic Lodge. Walters, Mrs. Rosella : Funeral services for Mrs. Rosella Swain Walters, aged 76 years, widow of Andrew Walters, a native of Noble County and former resident of Lowell, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. R. Wagner in Parkersburg, WV., were held Saturday afternoon. Interment was made at Lowell. The deceased, a daughter of Samuel and Martha Swain, was born near Carlisle, east of Caldwell. Warden, Mrs. Walter : Mrs. Mattie May Warden, 68, wife of Walter Warden, died suddenly Saturday at 8:40 a.m. at her home near Gibson's Station, as the result of a cerebral hemorrhage. She had not been in ill health and death was unexpected. A daughter of David and Louisa Touvell the deceased was born near Middlebourne and has been a resident of the Gibson Station community the past 40 years. She was married in 1894 to Walter Warden and was a member of the Kimbolton Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband; two children Harold Warden and Mrs. Paul Larue, Salesville; four brothers and sisters, Mrs. Sadie Barr and Mrs. Alta Everly, Wyandotte, MI., Harry Touvell of Salesville and Grover Touvell of Niles and three grandchildren. Two children and two sisters are deceased. The body will be returned to the home Sunday afternoon from McMillen Funeral Home. and funeral services will be conducted at the home on Tuesday at 2 p.m., by Rev. Lester S. Warren, Lewis Daniel : Lewis D. ''Dan'' Warren, age 87, of
Dexter City, Ohio, died Saturday evening (12/21/2002) at Marietta Memorial
Hospital in Marietta, Ohio. He was born 6/16/1915 in Dexter City, Ohio a son of
the late Tilton and Martha Tuttle Warren. He had owned Warren Drilling in Dexter
City and was a retired employee of the Ohio Department of Transportation at
Caldwell. He was a WWII Army Air Corps Veteran having served with the 18th
Repair Squad in Iran. He was a member of the Noble County Republican Central
Committee; had served on the Noble County Board of Elections, the Southern Noble
School Board, the Noble County Fairboard and was the President and Founder of
the Pure Water Company. He was a Methodist by faith. In addition to his parents
he is preceded in death by a sister Clare Moseley.
Surviving are his wife Sara Palmer Warren, whom he married 11/22/1941; 2 sons
James T. (Linda) Warren of Dexter City, Jack (Sue) Warren of Pataskala, 1
daughter Joan Warren of Columbus; 1 brother Paul Warren of Dexter City; 6
grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and caregiver Vicki Dennis of Dexter City.
Friends may call Thursday (12/26/2002) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at
McVay-Perkins Funeral Home in Caldwell, where services will be held on Friday
(12/27/2002) at 11:00 AM with Rev. Linda O'Donnell officiating. Burial will
follow at Dexter City Cemetery. Caldwell Post #4721 VFW and Belle Valley
American Legion Post #641 will conduct military graveside services.
Watkins, Evan J. : Friends here have been notified of the death of Evan J. Watkins, 94, which occurred at Marietta, Thursday, of infirmities. Mr. Watkins lived for a number of years in Washington County near the Noble County line, was a man of well known Christian character and taught school for many years in Noble County, as well as in Monroe and Washington Counties. The deceased was the son of the late Rev. Denton Watkins and Mahala Brandeburg Watkins. He was one of the charter members of the old Mt. Ephraim M. E. Church in the Gould settlement. Following the death of his wife he went to live with his children, three of whom survive: W. T. Watkins, Harry T. Watkins and Mrs. J. H. Rhoades, all of that city. Hamilton Watkins of Cunningham, KS., is the only surviving brother, In addition to his church work. Mr. Watkins was a member of the Masonic order and since its organization was affiliated with the Prohibition party. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon in Marietta and burial made in the cemetery at Lower Salem. Journal, 13 Sep 1934
Watson, Freeman Chesley : Freeman Chesley Watson, 85, of Ridge Ave., owner and operator of the Watson Monument Company at 11 Main Street, died at 10 p.m. Tuesday in the Mark Nursing Center at McConnelsville where he had been a patient since Nov 24 1972. He was born Nov 27 1887 in Noble County, a son of William and Sarah Brown Watson. Mr. Watson was a lifelong resident of this area and was a member of the Coburn United Methodist Church and Lodge of Amity, No. 5, F & AM. He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtie Hesslop Watson and a son, David, seven sisters and three brothers. Surviving are a son, Victor H. Watson of the home; a daughter, Miss Ruth Watson of the home; a sister, Mrs. William (Victoria) Gordon of Caldwell; plus several nieces and nephews. Private funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Blue Avenue Chapel of Bolin Funeral Home. Rev. Chester Imhausen will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Miller, Clarence Lucas, George Kilies, Alfred Mudgett, Russ Bolin and Lawrence Harper. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Watson, John W. : John W. Watson, 84, was found dead at his residence in East Cambridge when George Fannons visited the home on business. Death was attributed to infirmities of advanced age. Mr. Watson was born in Tippecanoe, Harrison County, but spent most of his life in Guernsey County. A former teamster and farmer he also retired as an employee of the Cambridge Glass Company in 1935. Surviving are two sons, J. C. Watson of Cleveland and James E. Watson, Cambridge, a sister, Mrs. Ella Weber, Flint, Mich., a daughter, Mrs. Ardella Long, Cambridge. Mrs. Watson passed away in 1934. Six grandchildren also survive, Two daughters are deceased. The body was taken to the Scott Funeral Home where services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. with Rev, Richard Hawkins of the East Cambridge Methodist Church in charge. Watson, Winfield S. : Winfield S. Watson, retired Noble County farmer, died Wednesday at 4 a.m. at his home in Summerfield, following a short illness. He had been a life long resident of Seneca Township until a year ago, when he retired and moved from his farm home to Summerfield. He would have been 87 years of age had he lived until next Tuesday, February 20. He had served as trustee of Seneca township for twenty years and had served for many years as a member of the board of education in Seneca township and the election board at Mr. Ephraim. Mr. Watson was marred twice, first to Miss Rebecca Jane Finley and the following children survive; John F. Watson of Quaker City, B. F. Watson of Pleasant City and R. W. Watson of Summerfield. The only daughter Mrs. Rosa Renner, wife of L. D. Renner of Caldwell , died two years ago. There are nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Joseph Casey who resided in the family home for the past fourteen years, was recently transferred from Camp Shelby to Texas City, Texas, and it is thought will not be able to attend last rites. Following the death of his first wife, Mr. Watson was married to Barbara Anne Mendenhall who survives at the home. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church at Mt. Ephraim, Friday at 2 p.m. following short services at the home in Summerfield. Rev. H. B. Shiltz will conduct the rites which will be followed by interment in the Mt. Watt, Mrs. Huston: Graveside services were held at Crestview Cemetery at one o'clock Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. Huston Watt, 92, who died Friday November 18, 1977, in Medico Nursing Center, Mt. Vernon, IN. The Rev. Richard R. Eshler of the First Presbyterian Church conducted the services. Campbell-Plumly Funeral Home handled the local arrangements. Born in Belmont County October 21, 1885, Jessie Cole Watt, was the daughter of the late Charles M. and Florence Cunard Cole. She was preceded in death in October 1963 by her husband, Huston Watt, former officer and general manager of Watt Car and Wheel Co. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, having joined the organization in 1916. Throughout her life she was involved in charitable and other worthwhile civic projects.
Watts, Mrs. Dolores Jean: Mrs. Dolores Jean Watts, 41, Pennsylvania Ave., NW., Washington D.C. native of Bridgeport, died Saturday at her home. She was born in Bridgeport, March 2, 1930, the daughter of Sylvia Eble Dlesk and the late Otto Dlesk. She was a member of St. Joseph's Cathedral. Surviving in addition to her mother of Wheeling are four brothers, Otto C. Dlesk of Rochester, NY, Ernest R. Dlesk of New Carrollton, VA., Walter E. Dlesk and Ronald L. Dlesk both of Wheeling. Friends will be received at the Altmeyer Funeral Home in Wheeling, tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Mass of Participation will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's Cathedral with burial in Mt. Weinmeister, Paul D.: Paul D. Weinmeister, 87, of Aledo, Ill., died Friday, Dec. 10, at Evergreen Place, in Normal, Ill. He was born Jan. 27, 1917, in Windsor, a son of Henry and Elizabeth (Lackman) Weinmeister. After graduating from Timnath High School, Dr. Weinmeister worked from 1935-40 on Crocker Ranch in Estes Park raising purebred Percheron draft horses. After receiving his doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Colorado State University in 1944, he practiced large and small animal veterinary medicine in Aledo until he retired in 1978. On May 5, 1946, he married Esther C. Blehm in Greeley. She died Feb. 2, 2005. Dr. Weinmeister was an active member of the Aledo Rotary Club, Mercer County Angus Association, and the United Methodist Church in Aledo. He served on the boards of directors of Diamond Laboratories and the Viola Bank. He enjoyed farming, raising cattle, fishing and woodworking. Survivors are his children, Gail Moberg of Palo Alto, Calif., Dr. Kent Weinmeister of Scottsdale, Ariz., Patti Anderson of Normal, and Kurt Weinmeister and wife Sara of Upland, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Amie Hammond and husband Ken, Alice Moberg, Paul Moberg, Karl Weinmeister, Philip Weinmeister, Dr. Brian Anderson and wife Dr. Yanhui Hu, Joni Sherman and husband Bob and Evan Weinmeister; two sisters, Elizabeth Blehm of Greeley and Irene Short of Wheatland, Wyo.; and a brother, Harold Weinmeister of Windsor. He is also remembered by special friends Kathryn Smith and Patti Goyen. His parents, four brothers and a sister are deceased. Services were Dec. 14 at Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. Weir, Mrs. Anna Mary: Mrs. Anna Mary Weir, 51, 152 Woodrow Ave., St. Clairsville, died Sunday at the Ohio Valley General Hospital, Wheeling WV. She was born in Wheeling, June 13, 1920, the daughter of the late Harry H. and Mary E. Jackson Scott. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah AME Church of St. Clairsville, the Ladies Aid Society, was secretary-Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of the church and a former teacher's aide in the St. Clairsville Public Schools. Surviving are her husband Emmett L. Weir; two sons, Harry of Detroit and Emmett Jr., at home; tow grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home, St. Clairsville tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Wells, Jessie : Funeral services for Miss Jessie Wells, 96, of McConnelsville, retired Morgan County school teacher, will be held at 3:00 Monday afternoon at her home with Rev. C. A. Moore officiating. Burial will be in Fletcher Cemetery, Morgan County. Miss Wells died Saturday at Good Samaritan hospital from a long illness of complications. For several years Miss Wells headed the Malta normal school and she also served several years as superintendent of the Marion county rural schools. A lifelong resident of Morgan County she was a member of a pioneer family there. She was a member of the Malta Methodist church, the Malconta Garden Club, The American Association of University Women and the New Era Club. She was a member of the board of trustees for the Kate Love Simpson Library. Surviving are a brother, Benjamin Wells of the home, one niece and four nephews. Welton, James L. : James Lewis Welton, 56, a native of
Bellaire, died Friday at Morristown after a four year illness, with a heart
ailment. He was formerly a resident of Bridgeport, before going to Morristown.
He was the son of the late Mrs. and Mrs. Michael Welton and for a number of
years was engaged as a contractor.
The survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bessie (Reynolds) Welton; a son Marion
James Welton of Kirkwood; a sister, Mrs. Hannah Wagner of Chicago and a brother,
Robert Welton of Dayton.
The remains were taken to the McDaniel funeral home in Bridgeport. Funeral
services will be held Monday afternoon at 3:30 from the home of his son, Marion
J. Welton of Elm street, Kirkwood. Rev. Earl Grose of Martins Ferry will
officiate. Burial will probably be made at Rose Hill Cemetery, Bellaire.

Welton, Michael : Michael Welton died at his home on Washington Street on Sunday at 3:30 a. m. aged 88 years. He had been in failing health for some time following a stroke on Sunday week ago. He was born in Ireland, and had lived here for five years. He was a Civil War Veteran. He was married to Ellen Fox, who survives with these children: Mrs. Mary Nolan of Kensington, Ohio; Robert of Cleveland; Mrs. Ellen Meek of Wheeling; Mrs. Kate Burrier, of Bridgeport; James of Wheeling: David of Pittsburg; and Mrs. Hannah Wagner of Toledo. Wepler, Mrs. Lewis : Mrs. Caroline Miller Wepler, 71d, wife of Lewis Wepler and a Noble County native, died on Tuesday forenoon of last week a the family home near Marietta, following an illness. Mrs. Wepler was a daughter of the late Arnold and Catherine Kimnach Miller and was married to Lewis Wepler in 1889, who survives with the following sons and daughters; Carl Wepler of Caywood, Mrs. H. E. Biehl of Prague, Okla., Oscar L. Wepler of Rockland, Ill., Mrs. E. F. Bules of Marietta, Ernest L. Wepler of Conneaut and Roy Wepler of Marietta. Mrs. Wepler was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Harrietsville when a girl. West, Charles R. : Charles R. (Chuck) West, age 68, of
Caldwell, Ohio, died Monday morning (9/16/2002) at his residence, following a
long illness. He was born 1/2/1934 in Buffalo Township, Noble County, Ohio, a
son of the late Vernon A. & B. Blanche Cale West. He was a graduate of the
former Sarahsville High School in Sarahsville, Ohio & was a retired Agent for
Western & Southern Life Insurance Company. He was elected Noble County
Commisssioner in 1990 and was currently serving in his 3rd term. He was a member
of Stop Nine Church of Christ in Byesville, Ohio. In addition to his parents he
is preceded in death by an infant sister and 1 brother Miley C. West.
Surviving are his wife Annabelle Clark West whom he married 5/26/1951; 2 sons
Terry L. (Vicki) West of Pleasant City, Ohio & Micheal K. (Joy) West of Concord,
Ohio; 1 daughter Tammy L. (Dave) Dickson of Marietta, Ohio; 1 sister Mildred E.
(Sally) Robinson of Caldwell, Ohio and 1 brother Melvin A. (Patricia) West of
Pleasant City, Ohio;
9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Westerman, Jerome : Jerome Westerman died on Sunday evening at his home in the 23rd year of his age. He has been employed in this news office for nearly four years. Although he was suffering the greater portion of the time with a spinal disease, he was always ready and will to do his duties. His mother has the sympathy of all in her troubles.
