Fairall, Carey : Funeral services for Carey L. Fairall, 75, of near Frazeysburg who died in Newark City hospital Thursday night following a week's illness, will be held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the Baughman Funeral Home at Frazeysburg Cemetery. Mr. Fairall was born March 29, 1869, the son of William and Susanna Dove Fairall. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Elvina Fairall; three daughters, Mrs. Recie Hawkins of Alexandria, O.; Mrs. Dollie Farley and Miss Hazel Fairall, both of near Frazeysburg; three sons, Theodore of Ravenna; Jesse of near Frazeysburg and Roy Fairall of San Antonio, TX., two brothers; a sister; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A son died in 1927. The body has been removed to the residence and will be returned to the funeral home at 10 o'clock Sunday morning. Times Recorder, 16 Jun 1944

Farmer, Joseph : Joseph Farmer, 75, died at 1 o'clock Tuesday morning February 10 at his home in Sardis having been in failing health for some time. He was born near Sardis but for 29 years had resided in Martins Ferry where he was a carpenter for the Gaylord mine. Victim of an accident he was forced to retire and return to Sardis. Surviving are his widow and six daughters; Mrs. Goldia F. Adams of Wooster; Mrs. Mary Thomas of Beech Bottom, WV., Mrs. Mable A. Reilly of Linchiam Heights, MD., Mrs. Eleanor L. Adams of Los Angeles; Mrs. Laura E. Wahl of Detroit; and Mrs. Ruth M. Hall of Martins Ferry and a son Samuel Farmer of Pasadena, CA. Farnsworth, Mrs. Edna : Mrs. Edna Farnsworth, 53, died at her home on Howard Street, Wednesday noon following a two week illness. Mrs. Farnsworth is survived by two sons, Pfc. William D. Farnsworth of the U. S. Army in South Carolina and Pfc. Wilbur Hina Farnsworth, U. S. Army Fort Benning, GA., her mother , Mrs. May Hina of Howard Street and the following step-children, Mrs. Anna Rhinebarger of Zanesville, Mrs. Eleanor Dennis, Zanesville, Mrs. Hazel Meets, Columbus, GA., Hubert Farnsworth, Zanesville and Mrs. Louise Hall, Zanesville; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Matthews of Columbus; Mrs. Minnie Orr, Zanesville, Mrs. Laura Bagley, Zanesville; Mrs. Nettie Valentine, New Philadelphia; three brothers, William Hina of the home, John Hina of the home and George Hina of Newark and four grandchildren. The deceased was a member of the Bethlehem Tabernacle. The body was removed to the Keck Funeral Home where funeral arrangements were incomplete last night. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Felty, Rev. Homer E. : Services for Rev. Homer E. Felty, 73, of Urbana, formerly of Portsmouth and Ironton, are planned at 1 p.m. Monday at Daehler Funeral Home. He died Thursday in an Urbana hospital. A native of Kentucky, he was a graduate of Otterbein College and Union Seminary in Dayton. He was a retired United Presbyterian minister, having served congregations in Westerville, Brooksville, Delta, Ironton and Cleveland and was named Pastor of the Year in 1945. A Mason he was listed in "Who's Who in the Middle West", and served as District 669 governor, Rotary Club International, in 1958-59; as chairman of the Board of Pension and Presbyterian Homes, and as a president and secretary of the Ironton Ministerial Association. He was active in Community Chest, March of Dimes and Crippled Children Society, and served as a member of the Probate Court Investigative Committee for Lawrence County. He also was a chaplain for Lancaster Boys Industrial School. Following retirement, he was speaker for the Ohio Agricultural Extension Service of Ohio State University and was Farm Bureau organization director for Champaign and Clarke Counties. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Jean Crawford Felty; a son Ronald of Indianapolis, IN; his mother Laura Felty of Portsmouth; two brothers Carl Felty of Portsmouth and Ralph Felty of Huntington, WV. and two grandchildren. Rev. Roger L. Dean of Indianapolis is to officiate at services, with interment in Memorial Burial Park. Friends may call at Daehler Funeral Home from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday. Felty, Nola Harris: Nola Harris Felty, 76, of Morristown, died Apr 5, 1984 in Barnesville Hospital. She was born March 1, 1908 in Marshall Co. WV., a daughter of the late Francis Marion and Myrtle Louella Francis Harris. She was retired employee of the Wheeling Steel Corp. and a member of the Morristown Christian Church and American Association of Retired Persons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Felty, in 1976, and three brothers, Okey, Purluss and Alden. Surviving are a son, Robert of Wheeling; a daughter, Mary Martha Harris of Youngstown; a sister, Luella Hartford of Greenbelt, MD., and Morristown; five grandsons and two great-grandchildren. Ferguson, Daniel K.: Daniel K. Ferguson, 49, Newcomerstown, died Dec. 18, 2004 in Newcomerstown. He was born July 15, 1955 in Dennison, a son of John L. Ferguson Sr. of Deersville and the late ERMA ( DEVORE ) Ferguson. He was a graduate of Lakeland High School in Freeport. He was a mechanic for the Ohio Machinery Company in Cadiz for 25 years. He attended many churches in the area. Surviving are two sons, Josh Ferguson of Brenerton, WA ; Luke Ferguson and his wife, Amanda of Freeport ; a daughter, Jenny Ferguson of Bay Area, Cal. ; a sister, Linda Able , husband Rick of Newcomerstown ; three brothers, John Ferguson Jr. and his wife Stephanie of New Philadelphia; Randy Ferguson and his wife, Pam of Tippecanoe ; Tom Ferguson and his wife Suzie of Freeport. Filter, Edward: Edward Filter, 61, of RD 1, Belmont, formerly of Moundsville, died Friday in Barnesville Hospital. He was retired former owner-operator of Filter's Florist and Greenhouses, Moundsville, and was currently assisting his daughter with Elizabeth Ann's Florist and Greenhouse in Morristown. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kesty and Veronica Kozikowski Filter; brother. Surviving are his wife, Catherine Elizabeth heller Filter; two sons, Douglas F. of Moundsville and David E. of Wheeling; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Filter at home; three brothers, Pete Slater of Canonsburg, PA., Francis Filter of Plant City, FL. and Henry Filter of Moundsville; five sisters, Regina Romanek of Erie, PA., Loretta Bukosky, Veronica Mysliwiec and Helen Rich, all of Moundsville, and Wanda Olako of Warwood; three grandchildren. Findley, Mrs. Florence : Mrs. Florence Coulter Findley, of Debois PA., a former resident of Crooksville, died in a Philadelphia, PA., Hospital Monday following and operation, according to word received here last night. Mrs. Findley attended Crooksville High School and was a resident of that vicinity for many years, going to Debois 15 years ago. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Theda Jean Miller, her mother, Mrs. Omeda Coulter and a brother Theron Coulter, all of  Debois and a sister, Mrs. Forest Hughes of Warren PA. Fiola, Mrs. Frances Marie : Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Marie Fiola, 76, who passed away Monday at 5:30 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Selders, of Spruce Street, following a lingering illness will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Full Gospel Tabernacle with Rev. Tice Snider, pastor and Rev. Bates of the Free Methodist Church in charge. Surviving are one son, Vernon Fiola of Toronto; four daughters; Mrs. Mary Lucas of Cambridge, Mrs. Stella Spinks and Mrs. Martha Faulhaber of Zanesville and Mrs. Wilbur Selders; one brother, Frank Linhart Kiplin; 26 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The body was taken from the Herlan Funeral Home to the Selders home Wednesday morning. She was a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church. Her husband preceded her in death several years ago. Fisher, Mrs. Ella L. : Mrs. Ella L. Fisher of 1656 Sharon Ave. died suddenly at her home shortly after noon Monday. While washing her luncheon dishes, Mrs. Fisher is believed to have suffered a heart attack, dropping dead. Her lifeless body was found late Monday afternoon by her husband, Charles Fisher on his return home from work. Walking into his home he found his wife's body stretched on the kitchen floor. Although she had previously suffered slight attacks her condition was not considered serious and she appeared in her usual health when Mr. Fisher went to work yesterday. The deceased was a member of the Central Methodist Church, the Women's Christian Temperance Union and the Royal Neighbors lodge. Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Esther Adams of Homewood Ave., a son, Lawrence Fisher of Goddard Ave. and two grandchildren, Doris and Gladys Adams. A brother, William Peck of Ava, also survives. The body was removed to the Dean Funeral Home. Arrangements for the funeral had not been completed last night. Times Recorder, 22 Oct 1940

Fitch, Charles M.: Charles M. Fitch, 78, Bethesda, died Sept 30, 1993 in Barnesville Hospital. He was born Feb 23, 1915 at Demos, a son of the late James and Minnie Mecum Fitch. He was a retired engineer for Tri-State Asphalt Co., Goshen Twp. Trustee, member of South Main Street Church of Christ, VFW at Bethesda and a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Pearl Craig Fitch; three daughters, Ruth Ann Myers of Barnesville, Kay Tush of Barnesville and Cheryl Lee Cliffton of Steubenville; three sons, James of Johnstown, PA., David of Barnesville and Charles of Mechanicsville; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlotte Fort; two grandchildren; a sister and a brother, Friends will be received at the Kelly-Kemp Funeral Home, Bethesda from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday where services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Fithen. Kenneth E.:  Kenneth E. Fithen, 60, of Tiltonsville, died Sunday in Martins Ferry Hospital. He was born April 7, 1923 at Rush Run, a son of Edna B. Francis Fithen and the late David Fithen. He was a retired employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp., Mingo Junction plant, and was a Protestant. Surviving in addition to his mother, a resident of Tiltonsville, are his wife, Zelda Tweedy Fithen; two daughters, Mrs. Roger (Judy) McHugh of Point Marion, PA., and Barbara Fithen of Steubenville; a son, Kenneth E. Jr. of Mingo Junction; two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Genevie) Michalo of Dillonvale and Mrs. Henry (Evelyn) Verhovic of Rayland; two brothers, David of Rayland and Roy of Wintersville; three grandchildren. Flanagan, Martha: Martha Pittman Flanagan, 77, Johnson Road South Bethesda, died this morning in the Ohio State University Hospital, Columbus. She was born Sept 2, 1915 at Bethesda, daughter of the later Harry and Edith Gregg Pittman. She was a retired employee of Walter's Grocery Co., Bethesda, a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church Bethesda and the Belmont County Homemakers Extension Group. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Flanagan; a sister, Jeanette Patterson; a brother, Robert Pittman. Surviving are a daughter, Maxine White of Bethesda; a son, Robert Flanagan of Bethesda; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Kelly-Kemp Funeral Home, Bethesda Sunday noon to 3 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. where services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Hayden officiating. Flanagan, Wilbur: Wilbur (Ray) Flanagan, 76, Johnson Rd., South Bethesda, died Thursday at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling. He was born Oct 29 1913 at Bethesda, son of the late Bert and Bea McWilliams Flanagan. He was a retired employee of Consolidated Coal Co., and a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Martha Pittman Flanagan; a daughter, Maxine White and a son, Bob Flanagan, both of Bethesda; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother Charles Flanagan. Friends will be received at the Kelly-Kemp Funeral Home, Bethesda, 7 to 9 p.m. today and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, where services will be Sunday at 2 p.m., with the Bill Hayden officiating. Foraker, Ralph V.: Ralph V. Foraker, 68, a retired farmer and a resident of RD 1, Salesville, died Wednesday morning, August 5th at Good Samaritan Hospital in Zanesville, where he had been a patient three days. Born August 21, 1901 in Guernsey County, a son of Clark and Rose Cochran Foraker, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Redd Foraker. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Ruth (Jean) Luatzenheiser of Adamsville and four grandchildren. One brother preceded him in death. The remains were taken to the Eberle Funeral Home in Quaker City where friends were received. Funeral services were held at the funeral home Friday, August 7th at 1:30 p.m. with the Reverend Allan Teter officiating. Burial was made in Friends Cemetery, Quaker City. Forbes, Gregory L.: Gregory L. Forbes, 49, of Belmont, died Tuesday (May 11, 2004) at his home. He was born Oct 4, 1954, in Barnesville, son of Gerald and Maxine Smith Forbes of Belmont. Mr. Forbes was owner of Residential Electrical Service, Belmont and a member of Belmont United Methodist Church, National Rifle Association, Bethesda Sportsman's Club, Barnesville Elks 1699 and the Independent Electrical Contractors. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, George and Pauline Carpenter Smith; paternal grandparents, George and Willa Betts Forbes; and a sister Beth Anne Forbes. He leaves, in addition to his parents, many friends. Friends were received Thursday and Friday at Kelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, Bethesda, where services were held Saturday with Pastor Charles Leasure officiating. Burial was in Belmont Cemetery. Forbes, Maxine J. : Maxine J. Smith Forbes, 76, of Belmont, died Thursday, June 23, 2005 at Ohio Valley Medical Center. She was born March 1, 1929 in Belmont County, a daughter of the late George and Pauline Carpenter Smith. Maxine was a graduate of Belmont High School, and a member of the Belmont United Methodist Church. She retired from the 4M Company of Bethesda. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Beth Ann Forbes; a son, Gregory L. Forbes; and a brother, Robert Smith.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Gerald Forbes, and several cousins. Friends will be received Sunday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Kelly-Kemp-Braido Funeral Home, 322 N. Main St., Bethesda, where services will be held Monday, 11 a.m. with Pastor Edward Eberhart officiating. Burial is in Belmont Cemetery. Times Leader

Fowler, Francis : Final rites for Francis Fowler, 5 months old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Fowler, of Canton who died Wednesday evening at his home, were held Sunday afternoon in Woodlawn Cemetery. Surviving in addition to the parents are the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Jackson, near Dresden and the paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fowler of Liberty Street, Zanesville. Fowler, James Nelson : After an investigation by Tuscarawas County authorities cause of the death of James Nelson Fowler, 16, of Kimbolton, former Cambridge High School pupil, was attributed to the youth being struck by a hit-skip driver, according to announcement made Wednesday. The body of Fowler was found Tuesday morning at 2:30 a.m. two miles west of Port Washington on State Routes 36-16 by two truck drivers, Mercer Napper of Pittsburgh, PA., and William Russell Renschler of Lexington, Ind. Sheriff John McIntosh of Tuscarawas County investigated the case and was assisted by Coroner D. M. Ceramella and Prosecutor Ralph Finley. Clarence Riggle whoe resides one mile west of Port Washington told authorities that he passed the victim about 1:35 a.m. Tuesday and he was hitch-hiking toward Newcomerstown. Riggle said he turned into his driveway shortly after passing the boy and that Fowler was singing and whistling as he walked by his home. It is believed that the boy was killed about 2 a.m. The body revealed that he sustained a severe cut on the back of his head a fractured skull and bruises on the right side of the forehead and nose where he had apparently been knocked to the pavement according to the sheriff. The investigation led officials to believe that he had been struck possibly by the trailer of a tractor trailer outfit. Brief funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Jones-Lydick Funeral Home in Newcomerstown, instead of Thursday. Additional services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Friday at the North Salem U. P. Church with Rev. Leland M. Miller, pastor of the Second U. P. Church of Cambridge, officiating. Fowler, Joseph H. : Joseph H. Fowler, 72, prominent Monroe County farmer, passed away Saturday evening at his late residence near Summerfield. Death terminated a lengthy illness. The body was taken to the Gardner Funeral home, Stafford. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Margaret O'Neal Fowler, he is survived by three children: Harry Fowler, Summerfield; Mrs. Ivan Miracle, Zanesville, and Mrs. W. B. Leasure, Summerfield. There are a number of other relatives. Mr. Fowler had spent his entire life near Summerfield where he was a successful farmer. A member of the Methodist church, he was interested in all church affairs. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon in the Summerfield Methodist Church at 1 o'clock Eastern Standard Time, with Rev. Peters and Rev. Orr, both of Summerfield, officiating. Frame, Mrs.  Alice : The body of Mrs. Alice Frame, 86, arrived at the Eberle Funeral Home, Quaker City, Saturday evening from Eldon, MO., and remained there until Sunday afternoon when it was taken to the Methodist Church at 3:30, where services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. G. M. Warner. Mrs. Frame was a former highly esteemed resident of the Salesville community and most of her life was lived in that vicinity. After the death of her husband, Shannon Frame, she made her home with her son in Eldon, MO., where she passed away Thursday, May 15. She is survived by three sons, Glenn, Floyd and Wayne Frame. Burial was made in Friend's Cemetery. Journal, 22 May 1941 pg. 4

Francis, Anna: Of paralysis, October 16th 1880, at the residence of Lester Francis, in Newport township, Mrs. Anna Francis in the 85th year of her age. She was a native of Hampshire County Va., but had lived in this township for about 50 years. She was a faithful mother and leaves a large line of descendants. FRANCIS, LOUIS: Louis Francis, 74, of 122 Harmar St., died Thursday at 5:10 a.m. at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 2, 1888, in Barlow Twp., a son of the late Vincent and Mary E. Michaels Francis. On June 22, 1914, he married Lenora Ellen Hall who survives. Also surviving are three sons and five daughters, Louis Francis, Virgil Francis, and Eugene Francis, of the home, Mrs. Emmett Patterson, Marietta, Mrs. Frank Fryman and Mrs. Wilson Gossett, Marietta Rt 4; Mrs. Leroy Graham and Mrs. William Stalnaker of Akron. Two children, Robert Francis and Clifford Francis, are deceased. There are 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister survive, George Francis, Marietta, Arthur Francis Marietta Rt 4, and Mrs. Ellen Conners, Wheeling WV. One half-brother and four half-sisters survive, Alonzo, Henry, Vincent, Mrs. Charles Tullius and Mrs. Lonnie Christopher of Belpre Rt 1; Mrs. Fannie Savage, Canton; and Mrs. Rebecca Allender, Marietta. Mr. Francis had been employed at Hall's Grindstone Co. before his retirement 10 years ago. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Freeman, Jason Edward: Jason Edward Freeman, infant son of Tammy Freeman, died Tuesday in the Barnesville. He was born December 22, 1987 at Barnesville. Fulton, Charles Samuel: Charles Samuel Fulton, 77, of Belmont, died Sunday at the Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling. He was born Dec 30, 1914 in Warnock, a son of the late Robert Scott Fulton and Lucy Emma Strahl Fulton Albaugh. He was a retired supervisor for Consolidation Coal Co., a member of Belmont United Methodist Church, Belmont and Hazen Lodge F & AM of Bethesda. Surviving are his wife, Eileen Dixon Fulton; three sons, Robert Brook of Belmont, Jerry Scott of Belmont and Charles Paul of Norfolk, VA; two daughters, Sarah Sue Greenlee of Malaga and Betty Charleen Thatcher of Belmont; one brother, Paul Fulton of Winston Salem, SC.; one sister, Doris Graham of Centerville; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Toothman Funeral Home, Jacobsburg, 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, where services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Virginia Geiger and the Rev. Barney Helms officiating. Burial follows in Belmont Cemetery, Belmont. Masonic services at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Times Leader, 30 Dec 1991
