Danford, Anna : Mrs. Anna Guiler Danford, 82, wife of Frank Danford of Whigville, 13 miles east of Caldwell, died Sunday afternoon at 12:30 in St. Francis Hospital, Cambridge, from pneumonia. She had been a patient at the hospital for several days. Mrs. Danford was a member of the Whigville Methodist Church of the Women's Society of Christian Service, and had taught for several years in the church Sunday school. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Caroline Guiler and spent her entire life in the Whigville community. Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters, Mrs. Carl Bond of Cambridge and Miss Inez Danford of the home; a brother John Guiler of Whigville, a sister, Mrs. Mary Rich of Mt. Ephraim and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Whigville Methodist Church with Rev. W. E. Peters officiating. Burial was made in the Whigville Cemetery with the Brubach Funeral home in charge of arrangements. The Journal, 24 Feb 1944

Danford, Rev. Michael : Word was received in Caldwell Tuesday morning that Rev. Michael Danford, 88, retired Methodist minister, who has served practically every charge in southeastern Ohio, had died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nelle Danford Jones, wife of Robert C. Jones, Woodsfield. Although he had been in a serious condition for several months, his death came as a shock to his many friends in Caldwell where he served as a minister of the local church for some years. Rev. Danford always considered Caldwell his home and enjoyed meeting the many friends he had made during his ministry here. Rev. Danford married Samantha Ogle, who died several years ago. Surviving are two children, Mrs. Jones, Woodsfield and Dempsey Spence, Newark. Two children are deceased. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Galbraith Funeral Home, Woodsfield. The body will then be brought to Caldwell and the casket will be opened at the grave in Olive Cemetery. His many Noble county friends are asked to pay their respects at this time. Davidson, Charles Wilson : The funeral of Charles Wilson Davidson, 89, who died at the county infirmary Monday October 16, 1944, was conducted Wednesday by Rev. Henry Neymann, Bridgeport. The deceased had been in the institution since 1940. Times Recorder, 20 Oct 1944

Davis, Bernard : Funeral services for Bernard W. Davis, Caldwell were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Friday in St. Stephen's Church, where he was a member. Burial was in Olive Cemetery. Mr. Davis died at 6:10 p.m. in Good Samaritan Medical Center following an apparent heart attack. He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. His wife Anna is deceased. Davis, Dottie M.: Mrs. Dottie M. Davis, 81, resident of Beallsville, passed away Wednesday, September 8th at Ohio Valley General Hospital in Wheeling. She was born November 15, 1889, a daughter of the late Nelson and Sevilla Headley Mobley. She was a member of the Beallsville Church of Christ. Preceded in death by her husband, Crawford in 1956, she is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Mary Brown of Richmond, Ohio; one son, Fred of Greensboro, NC., five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two brothers, George of Beallsville and Leslie of Barnesville; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Smith and Mrs. Zella Brock, both of Beallsville. One son, is deceased. The remains were taken to the Harper and Campbell Funeral Home in Beallsville where friends were received. Final rites were held Friday, September 10th at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Evangelist Tom Butterfield, Jr., officiating. Burial was made in Beallsville Cemetery. Barnesville Enterprise

Davis, Francis Paul: Francis Paul Davis, 48, of Belmont, died at 4:40 p.m. Saturday at Ohio Valley General Hospital. Born at Belmont June 24, 1913, he was a son of the late James and Clara Stewart Davis/ He was a member of the Belmont Church of Christ, Hazen Lodge No. 251 of Bethesda, the Belmont American Legion Post and the Ohio Highway Patrol Auxiliary. In addition, he was president of the Belmont Fire Department. He served with the U.S. Army in World War II and had worked for the Ohio Valley Gas Co. for more than 25 years. Surviving are his wife, Ann Malek Davis; a son, Kenneth and a daughter, Donna Jean, both at home; four sisters, Mrs. Lela Lynn of Barberton, Mrs. Mae Parker of Belmont Mrs. Grace Hepburn and Mrs. Mary Phillips of Columbus; a brother, Park of Akron; Friends received at the Kelly-Kemp Funeral Home, Bethesda, where services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday with Brother Amos Orrison officiating. Burial at Belmont Cemetery. Masonic services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home. Full graveside military services will be conducted by the Belmont American Legion.

Davis, George H. : George H. Davis, 55, Cleveland, formerly of Cambridge, died Saturday at the home of his sister, Mrs. Mathew Smith, Winter Haven, FL., where he had gone for the winter. He had been in ill health for over a year. The body will be brought to the Scott Funeral Home, Steubenville Ave. for funeral services and burial will be made in Northwood Cemetery. While in Cambridge the deceased had been employed as electrician for the Pennsylvania Railroad, being transferred to Cleveland 18 years ago. Prior to coming to Cambridge, he and his family had been residents of Byesville. He was the son of W. H. Davis Sr. of the Cambridge Colliers and also associated with that company for many years. A son, William H. Davis of the Great Lakes Navigation Training Station, Il., two sisters, Mrs. Smith and Miss Bess Davis of Presque Isle, MI and one brother Harry, Weirton, WV., and a granddaughter, Mrs. Judith Davis, Cleveland survive. His wife, Mrs. Hazel Burt Davis and a son are deceased. Times Recorder, 07 Dec 1943

Davis, Harry Eugene: Harry Eugene Davis, 77, Weirton, WV., formerly of Bethesda, died Sunday in Weirton Medical Center. He was born Jan 3, 1916 at Bethesda, son of the late Harry and Mae Heskett Davis. He was a retired vice president of Colliers Steel Co., a Protestant and a World War II Veteran. He was preceded in death by a sister, Bernice Benson. Surviving are his wife Mary Babish Davis; two sisters, Mrs. William (Mary) Bache of Bonita Springs, FL., and Mrs. Robert (Joan) Shepherd of Bethesda; two brothers, Bernard Dale of Cap may, N.N. and Charles H., of Bonita Springs. Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Kelly-Kemp Funeral Home, Bethesda, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. John Jackson officiating. Burial follows in Ebenezer Cemetery, Bethesda. American Legion Post No. 90, will conduct graveside services. 08 Mar 1993

Davis, John: John Davis, 73, of National Rd., west of Morristown, died yesterday at 6:50 a.m. The body was taken to the Kelly-Kemp Funeral Home, Bethesda and returned to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Pearl Skinner, west of Morristown. Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. The Rev. Robert Meyers will be in Charge with interment to follow in Morristown Cemetery. A son of Taylor and Jane Crozier Davis, he was born near Washington County, IA., but for the past 35 years was a resident of near Morristown. He was a farmer and married to Effie Lee in 1907, who died January 3, 1932. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lela Bunting, Barnesville, and Mrs. Pearl Skinner, Morristown; a step-daughter, Mrs. Mary Kocher, Belmont; a brother, Roland Davis, Newark, OH; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Davis, Mrs. Joyce M. : Joyce Marlene Davis, age 59, of Slaters Road, Caldwell, Ohio, died Monday afternoon (11/11/2002) at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell, Ohio, follwing a short illness. She was born 2/13/1943 at Caldwell, Ohio a daughter of the late Clinton Wayne & Sarah Mae Nichelson Willey. She was a 1961 graduate of Caldwell High School and had worked for 23 years as business manager for General Motors Dealerships including Cowgills Chevrolet in Caldwell, Bob's of Barnesville and subsequently Whitesides in Barnesville. Currently she was employed as the Director of the Joyce M. Davis Senior Citizens Center in Caldwell. Joyce was active and widely known in business, professional and civic organizations. She was Past Worthy Matron of Amazon Chapter #30 Order of the Eastern Star; Past President of the Noble County Chamber of Commerce; Past President of the Noble County Business & Professional Women's Organization; member of the Ohio Business & Professional Women's Organization in which she had held regional and state offices. Joyce was a founding member of Leadership Noble; was a member of the Citizens Advisory Board at the Noble Correctional Institution and a board member for the Ohio Hills Chapter of the American Red Cross. She had attended Keith United Methodist Church in Keithtown, Ohio. Surviving are her husband Virgil ''Butch'' Davis whom she married 4/16/1966; 5 sisters Joy Cunningham of Bradenton, Florida, Jewell (Riley) Devenbarger of Mansfield, Ohio, JoAnn (Richard) Stobbs of Westerville, Ohio, June Hayes of Caldwell, Ohio and Jeanne (Fred) Eschbaugh of Cambridge, Ohio; 3 brothers Don Willey of Mansfield, Ohio, David (Etta) Willey of Sharon, Ohio and Darwin Willey of Senecaville, Ohio; numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and cousins. Friends may call Wednesday (11/13/2002) from 7 to 9 PM and Thursday (11/14/2002) from 2 to 9 PM (family present 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 PM) at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, Ohio 43724. The Noble County Business and Professional Women's Organization will conduct services Wednesday at 7:30 PM. Amazon Chapter #30 OES will conduct Services Thursday at 7:30 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday (11/15/2002) at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with the Revs. William Pickenpaugh, Ken & Susan Hyland officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery in Caldwell. The family requests that memorials be made to the Joyce M. Davis Senior Citizens Center Memorial Fund. (envelopes will be available at the funeral home).

Daivs, Mrs. Louie : Mrs. Louie Davis, 78, died at her home on Bridge Street, Tuesday at 4 p.m. following a short illness of pneumonia. Mrs. Davis spent her early life in the Sharon community and following her marriage to William Davis had resided in and near Caldwell. Mr. Davis died two years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Davis celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in Caldwell three years ago. Surviving are three children, Forest Davis of Hollywood CA., Mrs. Nora Clark of Canton and Bernard Davis of the home. There are nine grandchildren. A brother, Robert A. Boggs resides in Wheeling WV. The body was removed to the Murphy Funeral Home and on Wednesday evening was returned to the home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist Church, Caldwell, conducted by Rev. Walter H. Brown of South Olive and Rev. Charles A. Mitchell of Caldwell. Interment will be made in Olive Cemetery. Times Recorder, 19 Feb 1942

Danford, Mrs. J. T. : The death of Estella, 53, wife of J. T. Danford of Columbus, occurred Wednesday morning of last week, following an extended illness. She was a daughter of Joseph and Mary Young and following the death of her mother, when she was five years of age, she made her home with her uncle and aunt, the late Samuel and Rebecca Gibson of Swazey until her marriage. In addition to her husband she is survived by one brother, George Young of Corning. Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the German M. E. Church at Marietta and interment made in a Marietta Cemetery. Included among the ones attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Danford and son Roger, Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Back, Clyde and Mary Gibson and Mrs. Sam Reed and son, Roger of the Swazey community, Mr. and Mrs. Otis King of Berne and Rev. and Mrs. G. A. Gibson of Cleveland. The later couple accompanied the Danford family home and remained over night and on Sunday afternoon called on a number of friends at Summerfield. Journal, 13 Sep 1934 pg. 4

Day, Charles : Charles Day, 72, died Saturday at the Barnesville Hospital following an illness. He was a resident of Barnesville for a number of years but for the past eight years had resided with his brother R. H. Day of Lewisville. Surviving in addition to the brother is one daughter Frances of Barnesville a son William of Akron and the following brothers and sisters, Cale of Mt. Vernon, Sherman of Barnesville, Mrs. Hattie Mason of California, Mrs. Elmer Miracle of near Stafford and Mrs. Marion Pepper of Summerfield. One daughter Mrs. Matida Howiler is deceased. Day, William E.: The Angel of Death has again been hovering around us and has taken from our midst William E. Day. He was born at Rock Hill, Belmont Co., and died near Stafford, Monroe County Ohio, July 24, 1899, aged 60 yrs. 8 mo. 9 days. He enlisted in Co. G. and fought for his country as a loyal and brave man. He was married to Miss Margaret Dollman of near Leabnon, their lives being one of peace and happiness. Ten children were born unto them five boys and five girls, and his bereaved wife still survive him. He was converted and united to the M. E. church in 1870. The Methodist Ministry always found a hearty welcome in his home which was a true Christian home. His ten children being faithful members of the M. E. church. He was a gentleman widely known and highly respected by all who knew him. He was closely attached to his family and was a great sufferer from cancers during the three months of his sickness and as a true Christian he bore his suffering well. He was also a member of the John Archibald post, No 362 of Stafford. His comrades will miss him from their ranks as they have lost a good comrade who never will gather with the boys to be tribute to the loyal dead. He was a good kind father and loving husband and will be missed by the family circle when they gather around the family altar of which he was the guide and light as well as being missed by his many friends. Short devotional services was held at the house, July the 25th, 1899 followed by regular services by Revs. Smith and Martin a large concourse of relatives and friends followed him to his last resting place with his beloved comrades acting as pall bearers his remains were interred in the Stafford cemetery.
