Campbell, Patrick M: Patrick M. Campbell, 53, of Columbia Falls died Aug 21 at Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell. He was born Aug. 10, 1942 in Missoula to Doug and Alice Campbell. In 1960, he graduated from Loyola High School and from the University of Montana in 1966. On Dec. 26, 1964, he married Linda Ranstrom. The couple moved to Columbia Falls where he taught high school. He joined Tri-Co Insurance and later became president of Tri-Co, which later merged with Time Insurance. Pat was active in his community, his business and his church. He is survived by his wife Linda, son Ty, daughter Heidi, their spouses, and grandson Jake Benson. He is also survived by his parents Douglas and Alice Campbell and siblings: Dave, Peggy, Mark, Mary, Matthew, Ed, Gus, Whitney, along with their spouses and 20 nieces and nephews.

Carnes, Mrs. Myrtle : Mrs. Myrtle Carnes, 47, wife of James F. Carnes, well known stock buyer and former resident of Noble County, was found dead in bed at the family home at East Sparat, Thursday morning at 4:00. Death was believed due to heart trouble as she had been ill of this disease for several weeks. The deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Corps and was born near Dexter City. She is survived by two children by a former marriage and a son and daughter and husband, Mr. Carnes, who she married three years ago, in addition to several brother and sisters. Carter, Levi : Mrs. Mary Edith Doudna, Barnesville, and son, Dr. S. J. Doudna, Caldwell, have returned from attending the funeral of Mrs. Doudna's father, Levi Carter, 94, held Monday at Middleton by the Religious Society of Friends. Burial was made in Friends Cemetery. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Marie Sterling Carter, and five children, Jesse R. Carter, Ellis F. Carter, Quaker City, Nathaniel H. Carter, Pomona City, Calif., Arthur L. Carver, Mrs. Homer : Mrs. Marie Wharton Carver, 55, of Matthew St., wife of Homer C. Carver, Chief press operator at The Times, died Sunday at 7:40 p.m. at Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born Sep 4, 1901, at Elba and was a daughter of the late Clarence C, and Mary Elizabeth William Wharton. ON Sep 12, 1923, she was married to Homer C. Carver at Robinson, IL. Her husband survives with one daughter, Mrs. Louis E. Huck, Jr., of Masonic Park Rd; tow grandchildren, Cynthia Ann and Michael Huck; four brothers and three sisters, C. C. Wharton Jr. and Robert L. Wharton of Burgettstown, PA., James Wharton of El Centro, CA., William E. Wharton and Mrs. J. R. Steadman of Marietta, Mrs. Dale D. Heskett of Bedford and Mrs. C. R. McKee of Zanesville. Mrs. Carver was a member of the First Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary, Aurelins Chapter OES of Macksburg and the White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 12. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Doudna and McClure Funeral Home with the Rev. C. William Black officiating. Burial will be in the Greenlawn Cemetery at Lowell. Chandler, Rev. Hartwell J.: Death of Rev. Chandler Rev. Hartwell J. Chandler died this morning at half past two o’clock at his home, 237 Race Street, at the age of seventy-six years. He had been sick for about nine weeks and disease combined with other infirmities combined to carry him off. He was born in Halifax county, Virginia, and from the time he was seventeen years of age was engaged in the ministry. He received his education at Richmond college and spent most of his life in his native state. He was a Baptist and during his career had done much good. He had resided in this city a little more than a year, having moved to this place one year ago the first of February. He leaves an aged widow and three daughters to mourn his departure. The funeral, for which arrangements have not yet been completed, will be conducted by Rev. E. B. Jones.  Newark Daily Advocate, 15-Mar-1892

Charlton, Robert B.: Robert B. Charlton, 66, Breezy Acres, St. Clairsville, formerly of Wellsburg, WV., died Wednesday in Wheeling Hospital. He was a retired Marine engineer, a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church, Martins Ferry and a Merchant Marine veteran of WWII. He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Surviving are his wife, Evelyn West Charlton; a son, Robert B. II of Newton, NJ; three daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Linda) Morris of Booton Twp., NJ., Mrs. Peter (Twila) Leavitt and Debra Drew, both of Virginia Beach, VA.; a brother, Norman of Roanoke, TX.; three sisters, Margaret Wilson of Columbus, Mary Brown of Tucker, GA., and Agnes Baron of Tampa, FL.; six grandchildren. Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Chambers Funeral Home, Wellsburg, WV. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Christ Episcopal Church, Wellsburg. Chase, Mrs. Mary Jane : Mrs. Mary Jane Chase, 77, former resident of Zanesville, died Saturday morning following a heart attack at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alec Page in Dallas, TX. Mrs. Page left Zanesville in 1890 to make her home in Kansas City, MO. Surviving in addition to her daughter are two grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Frank H., Osborne and Mrs. Margaret Dunn of Meade Street and Mrs. Roy Scott of South Zanesville; two brother. Theodore Flowers of Mt. Sterling and Edward Glowers of Akron, and a number of nieces and nephews. Her husband, one son and two daughters preceded her in death. A grandson, Alec E. Page, Jr. is serving with the armed forces somewhere overseas. Burial will be in Kansas City. Times Recorder, 05 Jun 1944

Christman, William D. : William D. Christman, 95, Civil War Veteran, near Glouster, died at the home of his son, William H. Christman, Tuesday, following illness. Comrade Christman was well known in Caldwell and practically every year attended the soldiers reunion here. Funeral services were held Thursday and burial made in Maplewood Cemetery. Deceased was a native of Belmont County but resided for a number of years in Morgan County. The Journal, 12 Dec 1940 pg. 8

Clancey, Edna Mae: Edna Mae Clancey, 68, of Wintersville, died Sunday at home. She was a retired employee of Weirton Steel Division and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Wintersville. Surviving are her husband, D. Bernard Clancey; four sons, Patrick B. of Toronto, Michael J., Robert S. and William L., all of Wintersville; a daughter, Mrs. Guy (Elizabeth) Bryan Blancato of Toronto; four sisters, Dorothy Hudson, Mrs. Stephen (Mary Elizabeth) Chadnock, Wilma Robinson and Grace Muckle, all of Steubenville; 12 grandchildren. Clapper, Mrs. Sarah : Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah Clapper, 69, of Indiana Street, who died Saturday morning at her home, will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Philo Methodist Church. Rev. L. H. McCoy will officiate and burial will be in Duncan Falls Cemetery. Mrs. Clapper was a native of Blue Rock Twp., but had lived in the greater part of her life in Zanesville. She was the daughter of Charles and Margaret Rose, and was a member of the Philo Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, Willis Clapper; three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Buchanan, of Norwich; Mrs. Mabel Six and Mrs. Marvel Massengill, both of Greenwood Ave., five sons, Virgil of Newark; Wilmer and Herman of Philo; Delmar of the Chandlersville Rd. and Sgt. Clyde Clapper, of Fort Benjamin Harrison, Ind.; three sisters, Mrs. Martha Watson of Beverly; Mrs. Ida Baker , of New Concord and Mrs. Lossie Dutro of the city and nine grandchildren. Clark, C. L. : C. L. Clark, 59, died Friday at 1:15 p.m. October 20, 1944, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John S. Miller, Kimbolton, following four months of infection. He was married in 1908 to his widow, and the following children survive; Mrs. Frances Bostwick, Canton, Mrs. Miller, Kimbolton, Mrs. Jane Clark, Mansfield, Glenn and Harold, mechanics mates, U.S. N., South Pacific; Donald, in training in Evanston, IL. The body was brought to the Scott Funeral Home here and will be returned to the home in Kimbolton, Saturday afternoon. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the Methodist Church in Kimbolton with Rev. Mark Roy of New Concord officiating. Burial will be made in the Kimbolton Cemetery. Clark, Ernest V. : Funeral services for Ernest V. Clark, of Monroe St., who died at his home Saturday afternoon following a lingering illness, will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 from the Mader-Peoples Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Irving West, pastor of the Central Presbyterian Church will officiate and burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Clark was a retired woodworker and was formerly employed at the Brown Manufacturing Company plant here. He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War and a member of Lodge of Amity No. 5, F. & A. M., and Central Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his widow Mrs. Linnie Clark and several nephews. Clark, John : Funeral services for John Clark, 71, who passed away Monday at the home of his niece, Mrs. Sarah Giffen following a week's illness were held at the McMillen Funeral Home at Cambridge Wednesday at 1 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Clarke, Brenda R. (Parkin): Brenda R. (Parkin) Clarke, 61, of 183 Holden St., died Friday, October 8, 2004, with her family by her side, at UMass Memorial Healthcare - Memorial Campus, 119 Belmont St., after a long illness. She leaves her husband of 23 years, Earl F. Clarke; a son, William Packard; of Worcester; two daughters, Kimberly Packard of Worcester, Wendy Olsen and her husband Gary of Worcester; a stepdaughter, Ellen Lehto of Southbridge; a stepson, Wayne Clarke of Uxbridge; her father, Lester Parkin, and a brother, James Parkin, Sr. both of Northport, Fla.; 18 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, a niece and a nephew. Another daughter, Robin Lojko of Worcester, predeceased her. Brenda was born in Connecticut, daughter of the late Loretta (Bulrus) Parkin. She moved here 35 years ago. Clary, Josephine: Josephine Clary, 78, Maynard, died Wednesday at the Carriage Inn, Cadiz. She was born at Dillonvale, March 26, 1911, daughter of the late Joe and Marie Huml. She was a Methodist. Surviving are her husband, Harry S. Clary; a son, Williard Franklin Clary of Centralia. WA., two daughters, Rosalee Scott of Caldwell and Alice Moffit of Martins Ferry; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Clear, Martha L.: Mrs. Pete (Martha L.) Clear, 71, of 2021 Bellflower Rd. Minerva, died Friday, Jan 22 1993 at her home following a short illness. She was born at Barnesville, daughter of the late Harry and Holdred Drawer Daniels. She was a graduate of Barnesville High School and a housewife. She and her husband, who survives, were married on March 31, 1949. Also surviving are one daughter and four sons, Mrs. Joyce Lutes and Danny Clear, both of Malvern, Mike and Mark, both of Carrollton and William of Columbus; one sister and two brothers, Mrs. Virginia Wise of Newark, John and Paul Daniels both of Barnesville; and 12 grandchildren. Services were held at the Gotschall-Hutchison Funeral Home at Minerva with Rev. Don Silliman officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Clements, Archie : Archie Clements, 66, of South Olive, died at 5:00 a.m. last Friday morning in the Good Samaritan Hospital at Zanesville, following a lingering illness. He was admitted to the hospital on Thursday evening for medical treatment. Mr. Clements returned to his home several weeks ago, after having been a patient in a sanatorium in North Carolina. Clemmer, George Lewis: George Lewis Clemmer, 85, of Dayton, VA died Saturday, August 7, 2004, at Bridgewater Home in Bridgewater, VA following a long illness.
He was born on Wednesday, November 27, 1918, in Swoope, VA, and was a son of the late Harry E. and Carrie (Peck) Clemmer.
He was a graduate of Petersburg High School, Petersburg, VA, and then received a Diesel Engineering certificate in 1938 from Hemphill Diesel School in Detroit, MI.
He worked for the Rural Electrification Authority of Rockingham County from 1939 to 1945. In 1945, he founded the Dayton Transport Corp., and operated it with Carr P. Coffman until the business was sold to Hahn Transportation in 1973. From 1974 until 1983 he founded and led the program in Diesel Shop at Blue Ridge Community College. He was an active member of the Dayton Presbyterian Church, and later Bridgewater Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was a charter member of Dayton-Bridgewater Lions Club, where he served as president on two occasions. He was a member of the Board of Directors of The Planter Bank of Bridgewater, predecessor of First Virginia Bank Blue Ridge and now BB & T. He served as Chairman of the board of directors from 1971 to 1980. He was a member of board of directors of Bridgewater Home for 23 years. He served as a member of the Town Council of Dayton, VA and the town9s Treasurer. He was an avid collector of antique vehicles and steam and gas equipment. He was a founder and active supporter of the Bridgewater Steam and Gas Show. He assisted in the organization of the Shenandoah Valley Chapter of the Antique Trucks Historical Society, and was an active member of the National Society. On July 11, 1942, he was united in marriage to Mary Marguerite (Latham) Clemmer, who preceded him in death on March 20, 2002. He is survived by three sons Thomas H. Clemmer, George L. Clemmer, II, and Charles L. Clemmer. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, August 11, 2004 at the Lantz Chapel with the Rev. John Oldman officiating. Burial will follow in the Dayton Cemetery. Clemmer, Herman Rudolph: Herman Rudolph Clemmer, 80, husband of Betty Lee (Mynes) Clemmer, of 1129 Walker9s Creek Road, Middlebrook, died 8:55 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2004 at his residence. Mr. Clemmer was born on February 16, 1924 in Middlebrook, a son of the late Thomas Cyrus and Bessie Mae (Clemmer) Clemmer.
Mr. Clemmer was a farmer and was retired as a Security Officer with the DeJarnette's Center. He was an honorary member of the Middlebrook Fire Department, an U.S. Navy Veteran and a member of the Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church. In addition to his wife of 55 years, family members include two daughters, and a son-in-law; Lynda C. Hemp of Middlebrook and Gail C. and Maynard Brown of Staunton; three grandchildren, April L. Welsh, Betsy G. Hemp and Michael D. Brown; four great-grandchildren, Cherokee Hemp, Randi Leigh Nuckoles, Austin and Lance Cross; special step-grandson, Jimmy Hemp; beloved niece, Mrs. Judy Bare and her husband Tom of Rockbridge Baths; and many cousins and special friends. Mr. Clemmer was preceded in death by a brother, W. Floyd Clemmer and a sister-in-law, Velma (Mizer) Clemmer. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, (October 19, 2004) in the Mt. Hermon Cemetery by the Rev. JoAnn Bunn. Cline, James : James Cline, 66, well known Woodsfield man, passed away very suddenly Monday evening Oct 23 1944 at his residence, on Sycamore St. He had been ill for the past three weeks with a heart ailment but it was thought he was recovering. His death was a shock to relatives and friends. He is survived by his wife, three sons, Harold Cline, twin sons, Herbert and Howard, all who are serving with the U. S. armed forces. There are three grandchildren. For a number of years Mr. Cline was associated with the W. H. Jackson store, where he made many friends. A member of the Presbyterian Church. Was interested and active in all church affairs. The body was taken to the Bauer & Turner Funeral Home. Arrangements are incomplete pending the arrival of the sons. Times Recorder, 25 Oct 1944

Close, Charles: Charles Close aged 83, years, died at his home at Long Run on Thursday at 9 p.m., following an illness due to infirmities. Mr. Close was born in Bavaria Germany, on October 6,1850. He came with his parents to America when he was quite young and the family settled in the Long Run neighborhood. He spent the greater part of his life there. He had lived at Fleming for five years and had also lived in Marietta for about 10 years, when he conducted a grocery store on South Sixth Street. His wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Close, died on April 9, 1929. Surviving are a son and two daughters, Daniel M. Close and Mrs. Mary Hall of Long Run, and Mrs. Adam Crumley of Marietta. One son Charles Peter Close, died in 1907. There are two grandchildren, Floyd Hall of Kilgore TX., and Mrs. Ora E. Weber of Marietta. There are also two great-grandchildren. The deceased was the last member of his family of brothers and sister. Funeral services will be held at the Doudna & McClure Funeral Parlor on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Interment will be made in Oak Grove. Close, Mrs. Elizabeth: Mrs. Elizabeth Close, an old and respected lady of Newport Township, and widow of the late Peter Close, died at the home of her son, Mr. Charles Close, near Yankeeburg, Saturday evening. Her death was due to dropsy and that fell destroyer, the grip. She had been a sufferer for 5 years and was 69 years old. Mrs. Close was born in Bavaria, Germany, and immigrated with her husband and family to this country in 1855 and since that time has been a resident of Washington County, with the exception of 2 years residence in Kansas. She leaves 3 sons and 1 daughter. The burial and funeral services took place Monday February 8th, at Yankeeburg. Marietta Times no publication date.

Close, Martin: Martin Close, 81, former resident of Marietta, died on Thursday evening at 9 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Skinner of New Philadelphia. The deceased was born in Germany on January 8, 1853, and with his parents came to the United States at the age of three years. He spent most of his life in the Yankeeburg neighborhood. He is survived by six daughters and one brother, Charles Close of Yankeeburg. One son and one daughter preceded him in death. The body was brought to the Doudna & McClure funeral home. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at the Yankeeburg Church at 1 o'clock. Interment will be made in the Yankeeburg Cemetery. The body will remain at the Doudna & McClure Funeral Home until Sunday noon. Marietta Times February 23, 1934.

Close, Mrs. Mary: Mrs. Mary F. Close, 92, widow of Martin Close, lifelong resident of Washington County, died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Hall, 218 Spring St., following decline. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Doudna and McClure's. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery. Mrs. Close was born February 14, 1856 in Newport Township, a daughter of John and Frances Marshall Ritchey. Her husband, Martin Close, died in 1934. Survivors are her daughters, Mrs. Flora Becker and Mrs. Fannie Skinner of New Philadelphia; Mrs. Bessie Gleeson of New York City; Mrs. Alta Fleming of Tonawanda, NY and Mrs. Jennie Rimbey of Buckeye Lake. Sisters are Mrs. Anna Haynes of Long Run and Mrs. Elizabeth Mendenhall of Eight Mile. There are 12 grandchildren,15 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Coe, Zella Mae : Zella Mae Coe, 66 of East Church St. Barnesville, died at Barnesville Hospital Tuesday morning, February 23, 1982 at 6 a.m. Born in Lansing, Ohio, June 4, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Wiley and Anna Saffel Ross. She was a member of the Belmont Ridge Christian Church. Surviving are her husband, William Coe; one son William L. Coe of San Antonio, TX; Six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Friends are being received at Kelly-Kemp Funeral Home in Bethesda Thursday 2-4 and 7-9. Final services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Brett Kindle officiating. Colburn, L. A. : Quaker City, OH-L. A. (Bert) Colburn, 74, died at this home north of Quaker City, Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, following a lengthy illness. Mr. Colburn had been engaged in farming for the past 45 years in this vicinity. He was a member of the Quaker City Methodist Church. His wife, Mrs. Emily Colburn preceded him in death in 1929. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Annie Graves of Columbus, Miss Laura Colburn, Pittsburgh, Mrs. Phoebe Grudier; two sons, Weldon of the home and Leland of Lansing Mich; one brother Dean Colburn of Alberta Canada. Funeral services will be held at the Quaker City Methodist Church Thursday at 2 o'clock with Rev. Gilmore officiating, assisted by Rev. Forest Hall. Burial will be made in the Friends Cemetery. Conway, John David: John David Conway, 52, 173 N. Wilson Rd. Columbus, died at his home. He was born June 27, 1935 in Wayne Twp., a son of Rawley and Ruth Hagan Conway. He was a member of Pleasant Ridge Methodist Church and was employed by White Westinghouse Co., Columbus. He was preceded in death by a brother, William R. Conway. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are three brothers, Lee of Bethesda, Jim of Springfield, VA., and Francis of Columbus; a sister, Mrs. Larry (JoAnn) Thomas of Columbus; several nieces and nephews. Cooling, Mrs. Margaret : Mrs. Margaret B. Cooling passes away at her home, two miles north of this place, Friday at 5:30 p.m., following  a heart attack. She had been in failing health for several months but her death was unexpected. She had been a resident of the Sewellsville vicinity the past 12 years. She is survived by her husband, Ernest and one sister, Mrs. Charles Moore, South Point. The body was removed to the Sells Funeral Home in Hendrysburg and funeral services will be held at Oak Grove Methodist Church at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon. Rev. C. W. Courson, Rosa S.: Service for Mrs. Rosa S. Courson, 78, of 30 N. Buena Vista St., Newark, Ohio, were held Tuesday, September 7th at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Criss Brothers Funeral Home with the Reverend Clarence Gosnell officiating. Interment was made in Wilson Cemetery. Mrs. Courson died Friday, September 3rd at 8:20 p.m. in the Neward Convalescent and Nursing Home. She was born Rosa Carpenter August 9, 1893 in Woodsfield. Mrs. Courson, who formerly lived on Route 6, was a member of the Jacksontown Methodist Church and Franklin Grange. Her husband, Oren H. Courson is deceased. Surviving are one step-son Herman Courson of RD 3: one sister, Mrs. Bertha Johnson of Barberton; four brothers Arthur of Barnesville, Listen of Cambridge, Okey of Somerton and Martin of Ravenna. Crabtree, Calvin : Funeral services for Calvin Crabtree, 84, of Columbus, former resident of Zanesville who died Tuesday morning at his home, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon at the home. Craig, Jerusha : Jerusha Craig was born February 16, 1852, in Germany the daughter of the lat John and Elizabeth Tople, who migrated to the country when the deceased was an infant. She was the widow of the late William M. Craig. Death occurred November 9, at 10:15 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. E. Hawkins of Stafford. She had been in failing  health for some time. Death relieved her of her suffering and tribulations. She leaves to mourn her death five daughters, Mrs. E. W. Archer, of Lyford TX., Mrs. W. E. Hawkins of Stafford; Mrs. William Gibson of Cambridge; Mrs. Ambrose Archer of Summerfield; Mrs. E. L. Merry of Caldwell; also three son Albert of Sarahsville; William of Berne and Frank of Summerfield. Two daughters, Mrs. Lillie Harris and Fannie Craig and one , Charles preceded her in death. She is also survived by one brother H. H. Tople of Portland OR. and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Craig, Samuel A. : Funeral services for Samuel A. Craig Jr., native of Guernsey County and formerly associated with his father in the retail dry goods business in the Craig building will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the home of his sister, Mrs. S. C. Carnes, 610 North Seventh Street. Born Dec. 16, 1878, a son of Samuel A. and Ella Gregg Craig, he spent many years in Cambridge. On Oct 20 1904, he was married to Miss Ruth Westfall of Delaware, There were no children. In 1924, he moved to New Rochelle, NY., engaging in the advertising business. In ill health for some time he arrived in Cambridge Friday to be the guest of Mrs. Carnes was taken ill, and removed to Swan Hospital Saturday at 4 p.m. where he died two hours after being admitted. A veteran of World War I, he served as a captain in Co F, 332nd Infantry and did combat duty in Italy and the Balkans. Affiliated with the Masonic Lodge of Cambridge, a former member of the local American Legion and charter member of the Rotary Club, he also was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Cambridge, transferring his membership to the First United Presbyterian Church in New Rochelle after leaving here. In addition to his widow and Mrs. Carnes, he is also survived by a brother, Fred G. Craig of Columbus and another sister, Mrs. J. D. Pender, Denver, Colo. The body was returned to the Carnes home yesterday morning from the Stevens and McCracken Funeral Home where services will be in of the Rev. C. K. McGeorge and Rev. Lester S. Evans of the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be made in Northwood Cemetery. Times Recorder, 26 Jul 1943

Crawford, Burtley : Burtley Crawford, 82, died very suddenly Saturday morning at his late residence near Calais. His death was a shock to relatives and friends. Surviving are four sons. His wife preceded him in death several years ago. The body was brought to the Bauer & Turner Funeral home and on Sunday morning was returned to the place of death. Funeral services will be held Tuesday with short services at his residence at 1:00 followed by services at the Seneca Valley Church of Christ near Calais. Rev. J. V. T. Crosson, Catherine Florence : Stricken with a heart attack, Catherine Florence Crosson, 53, wife of Capt James F. Crosson, U. S. Army, retired, died at her residence on Miller Ave., Monday night. Mrs. Crosson had been a resident of the city for 12 years. She was a native of Cincinnati. She is survived by husband, Capt. James F. ; one daughter, Dorothea G. ; 1 son, James F. Jr., 4 sisters; Mrs. Risenhard Santo, Columbus; Mrs. Frank Spregal, Mrs. Peter Amrein and Mrs. Alvin Kienzle, all of Cincinnati and two brothers; Charles and Frank Heltman of Cincinnati. Crozier, Mrs. Estella: Mrs. Estella Crozier, 82, RD 2 Jacobsburg, died Saturday in Cadiz Convalescent Center. She was born at Wegee, Feb 1, 1892, daughter of the late George and Isaphine Brannen Dunfee. She was a member of the Bethel United Presbyterian Church of Key. Preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1937, she is survived by three sons, James L. of Powhatan, Galen and Vane, both of Bellaire; three daughters, Mrs. Margaret (Dutch) Barati of Bellaire, Mrs. Nick (Midge) Matesick of Powhatan and Mrs. Georgia Jones of Belmont; one sister, Dena Belle Dunfee of Cambridge; 22 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren. Cunningham, Helen: Frazeysburg-Helena Louise Cunningham, 95, of 1400 Newark Road, Zanesville, Ohio, formerly of Nashport, Ohio. died at 12:05p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2001 at the Muskingum County Home, Zanesville. Born March 4, 1906 in Zanesville, she was a graduate of Lash High School and Meredith Business College. She was a retired clerk having work for many years for the Nashport and the Frazeysburg-Nashport Board of Education. Mrs. Cunningham was a faithful member of the Nashport-Irville Untied Methodist Church and the Open Circle Sunday School Class. She was also a member of Nashport Grange #1893 for over 55 years and was a former member of Treasure Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she is survived by one daughter, Eileen {Gerald} Untied of Nashport: one son, Glenn {Ruth} Cunningham of Dresden: five grandchildren, Janeen {Ed} Fell, Jill {Dick} Sitzes, Julie Untied, Kelly Cunningham and Clay {Kim} Cunningham; and seven great grandchildren, Jurt and Kara Fell, Kyle and Miriam Sitzes, Johnny and Sarah Gerber and Caylee Cunningham. She is preceded in death by her parent, John Jacob and Frederika Louise {Kohler} Haug; her husband, Edwin R. Cunningham, whom she married November 29, 1929 and who died December 20, 1996; one sister, Clara Rittberger; and three brothers, Edward, Carl and Jacob Haug. Curl, Pamela Hill : Pamela Hill Curl, was born in Harrison County Ohio. When but three years old she removed with her parents to Jefferson County, at the age of twelve she removed to Guernsey County were she was married to Benjamin Curl in 1841, with whom she removed to Van Wert County, from Van Wert to Washington County and to Perry County in 1863, where she was a permanent resident up to the time of her death which occurred on the night of January 3rd at the age of 79 years and 6 months. For some years past she was declining health. On the night of the 3rd she retired in usual health, failing to appear the following morning, she was found dead in her bed. She was the mother of two sons, one whom preceded her to the grave. Her husband died twenty years ago. She died at the home of her surviving son, John M. Curl, in Pleasant Township.
