Badger, Charles W. : Died in Newark, New Jersey, 17th inst., Charles W. Badger in the 63rd year of age. The Newark Daily Advertiser on the 18th in a brief obit notice say of him, " The Brain Attack with which Mr. Charles W. Badger was attacked a week ago resulted yesterday in his death." Mr. Badger was the brother-in-law of T. Spencer Stillman and was well known in Somerset. He was owner of a large tract of coal and miming land in Snow Fork in Hocking County, Ohio, besides and together with J. Murray Brown, H.S. Doubleday and two others, owned the valuable tract of right branch of (Snow Fork) Coal and Mining Co. He leaves a wife. by B. F. Thomas, M. G. at Friend's Chapel. Somerset Press, January 26, 1877
Baer, Oscar W. : Oscar W. Baer, 79, of Wheelersburg, died Friday at Scioto Memorial Hospital after a long illness. A native of South Webster, he was a retired petroleum products distributor and service station operator, and a member of Bloom Freewill Baptist Church, Porter Grange and Western Sun Masonic Lodge. Surviving are a daughter, Wilma Heinemann of Wheelersburg; six grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Funeral service is to be at 2 p.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Forrest Chamberlain, the Rev. Edward Percell and the Rev. Paul Williams officiating and interment in South Webster Cemetery. Friends may call at D. W. Davis Funeral Home after 7 tonight and anytime Sunday. Masonic rites are planned at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Sunday.
Baer, Robert : Funeral service was held at 2 today at D.W. Davis Funeral Home in South Webster for Robert Baer, 56, of Wheelersburg, who died Saturday at Scioto Memorial Hospital. He was an employee of the Ohio Department of Transportation and a member of the Western Sun Masonic Lodge 91 of Wheelersburg. Surviving are his wife, Virginia; three sons, Mark of Minford, Aaron of Ft. Lee, VA., and Daniel of Virginia Beach, VA; a daughter Amber Miller of Chillicothe; his father Oscar Baer of Wheelersburg; a sister, Wilma Heinemann of Wheelersburg; and eight grandchildren. The Rev. Ed Percell officiated at the service, with interment in South Webster Cemetery. Published 15 Dec 1984.
Baer, Ruby : Ruby Townsen Baer, 73, of Wheelersburg, died Thursday at Mercy Hospital. She was a member of Wheelersburg Eastern Star and Porter Grange. Surviving are a son, Bob of Wheelersburg; a daughter Mrs. Wilma Hiemean of Rolling Hills Estates; two sisters, Mrs. Nola Yeley and Mrs. Elizabeth Yeley, both of Wheelersburg; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a member of Bloom Freewill Baptist Church at South Webster, where services are planned at 2 p.m. Sunday, with Rev, Glen Bobst and Rev. Bailey, John W. : John William Bailey, 68, died Tuesday at 7 a.m. at his home after an illness. Born April 12, 1876, in Center Township, he was a son of George and Mary Chaplan Bailey. On June 13, 1914, he married to Alsade King. Besides his widow he leaves the following children; Mrs. Audrey Null, Los Angeles, CA., William Howard Bailey, Chicago, IL., Mrs. Edith Potts, Cambridge and John Bailey of the home. He also leaves two brothers, Emmett and Ernest A. Bailey, Cambridge, besides eight grandchildren. One son is deceased as well as four sisters and one brother. Bain, Mrs. Mary E. : Mrs. Mary E. Bain. Mary E., daughter of Rev. William and Nancy Hoyt, was born near Barry, Ill., October 30, 1849, and departed this life at her home in this city September 24, 1900, aged 50 years, 10 months and 24 days. She was married to A.H. Bain Sept. 15, 1867. Of this union there were born to them four children, three of whom are still living to mourn their loss, namely John, William and Myrtle. Carrie died only a few years ago, after growing to womanhood. Besides her husband and children she leaves three sisters, Mrs. J. B. Phillips of Kansas; Mrs. Wm. Jennings of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Hannah Grubb of this city, and two brothers, William and James Hoyt, also of this place. She was reared in a Christian home and surrounded from childhood by Christian influences. Her father, Rev. Wm. Hoyt, of sacred memory, was a local preacher in the Methodist church of Barry for many years. Sister Bain had been a sufferer for many months, and realized for some time that she could not get well. She has been so patient all this time, always fearful lest she should cause some one some trouble. To her pastor, when he called, she always had a testimony of Christ's power to save and keep. She loved to have her pastor pray and sing, and enjoyed religious conversation. The end came peacefully. She had made everything ready, and so departed to be forever with the Lord. The funeral services were conducted from the M. E. Church Tues., Sept. 25, at 3:30 pm by Rev. W. M. Hailey and interment made in Park Lawn Cemetery." Barry Adage Newspaper, Barry, Pike, IL. Baker, Mrs. Beryl: Mrs. Beryl Roby Baker, 73, of RD 3, Beallsville, died Saturday February 5th at Barnesville Hospital. She was born at Belmont, May 17, 1903, a daughter of the late John and Laura McGaughy Roby. She was a Protestant by faith. Preceded in death by her husband, Orville, she is survived by a brother, Harold Roby of RD 3, Beallsville. Two brothers, James and Albert and one sister, Erreatha Porter are deceased. Friends were received at the Kelly-Kemp Funeral Home in Bethesda, where final rites were held Tuesday, February 8 at 3:30 p.m. with the Rev. Bob Jones officiating. Baker, Mrs. Celia : Mrs. Celia Baker, 69, Fulton St., died at her home at 4:00 Sunday morning following several months of illness. She was born in Todd, North Carolina but moved to Zanesville in 1905 and had since resided here. She was a member of the Mother's Club of the Pentecostal Church of Christ and was a Gold Star Mother. Surviving are her husband, Ransom Baker of the home; a daughter Mrs. Mary Johnson of Chicago; a step-daughter, Mrs. Bessie Warren also of Chicago; one niece and three grandchildren. Baker, Elizabeth: Elizabeth Powell Baker, 76, of RD 1 Bethesda, died Saturday at the Barnesville Hospital. She was born March 8, 1903 at Bethesda, a daughter of the late William and Hannah Lowe Moore. She was a member of the Bethesda Nazarene Church. Her first husband, Zenas Powell died in 1969. Surviving are her husband, Russell Baker; three sons, Robert and Amos Powell, both of Bethesda, Allen Powell of Barnesville; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Kelly-Kemp Funeral Home, Bethesda, tonight 7 to 9 and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Wednesday at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Richard Bachman officiating. Burial in Ebenezer Cemetery, Bethesda.
Ballard, Marie: Marie Kirkpatrick Ballard, 76, Bethesda, died Thursday in Barnesville Hospital. She was born Jan 27, 1912 at Kodol, WV., a daughter of the late Orris and Cora Sapp Kirkpatrick. She was a retired employee of Union Local Schools, a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Bethesda, and a volunteer at the Barnesville Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Ballard. Surviving are three sons, The Rev. Garry Ballard of Hickory, NC., Roger Ballard of Westerville and Larry Ballard of Nevada; five daughters, Mrs. Isaac (Laurel) Gray of Westland Mich., Mrs. Ronald (Sharon) Lane of Piedmont, Mrs. David (Iris) Wilson of Louisville, Mrs. Michael (Suyza) Funari of Barnesville and Mrs. Larry (Dawn) Kester of Jacksonville, NC.; two brothers, David and Donald Kirkpatrick; two sisters, Helen Vice and Delores Melville; 25 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren. Bancroft, Mrs. Mildred : Mrs. Mildred Graham Bancroft, 80, of Streich Apartments, died Monday at Scioto Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Scioto County and a member of the First United Methodist Church. Her husband, Ernest Bancroft, died in 1972. She is survived by a son, Charles of Summit St., and a sister, Mrs. Noeline Rice of Clay St. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Windel-Howland & Brant Funeral Home, with Rev. Robert B. Barbe, Barbara Collins: Barbara Collins Barbe, 63, of Lynn Road Belmont, died Friday in Barnesville Hospital. She was born Feb 11, 1925 at Egypt Valley, daughter of the late H. Stanley and Cleo Walker Collins. She was a member of the Morristown Christian Church. Surviving are hr husband Carl; three sons, Larry, Donald and Terry, all of Belmont; tow brothers, Alfred Collins of Lady Lake, FL., and Clifford Collins of Bethesda; nice grandchildren. Barbe, John: John A. Barbe, 71, a resident of Morristown, died Monday morning at Barnesville Hospital. He was born April 28, 1912 at Morristown, a son of the late Lloyd and Vera Skaggs Barbe. He was a retired employee of Belmont County Engineers Department and a member of the First Christian and the Odd Fellows Lodge, both at Morristown. He was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Barbe and a sister, Lorell Wilson. Surviving are his wife Martha lee Barbe; a son William Barbe of St. Clairsville; a sister, Mary Gail Wilson of Columbus. Barker, Mrs. Zona : Mrs. Zona Stotts Barker, 81 of Maywood, KS., died last Friday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Garfield Watson, near Mt. Ephraim, where she had been visiting for a year. Funeral services were held Sunday forenoon at the Watson home, with Rev. H. B. Shiltz in charge. Burial was made in Maywood Wednesday afternoon. Other children surviving are Mrs. Nannie Waldron, Mrs. Lavia Hutton, Mrs. Delilah Martin, and Albert Barker, Jr., all of Maywood Ks. Noble County Leader, 21 Nov 1940.
Bartlett, Leslie Wayne: Leslie Wayne Bartlett, 55, Belmont, died Tuesday at Belmont, as a result of an automobile accident. He was born Sept 23, 1931 at Wheeling, a son of Margaret Barrett Bartlett and the late Leslie Bartlett. He was an employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp., in Yorkville plant, a member of the Belmont United Methodist Church, Hazen Lodge at Bethesda, Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge and a veteran of the U. S. Army. Surviving in addition to his mother, a resident of Belmont, are his wife, Janie Gordon Bartlett; a daughter Mary Ann Lucas of Belmont; a granddaughter, Meagan Lucas of Belmont. Geraldine 'Lomeda' Murphy preceded him in death on 03 May 1999. One sister and

Bates, Ernest T. : Ernest T. Bates, 59, a former Cambridge
resident, died last Sunday at 6:30 a.m. in a Hartford City, IN., hospital as the
result of a broken neck sustained in an auto accident on Thursday near Hartford
City. His wife, Mrs. Louella Phillips Bates was also critically injured in the
accident. They were enroute to their home in Marion, IN., from Dunkirk IN.,
where they had spent Thanksgiving with Mrs. Bates son Jesse Phillips, when the
collision occurred. Mr. Bates was born in Noble County on April 21, 1881, and
was employed by the Hunt Lumber Company while a resident of Cambridge. He moved
from that city to Mt. Vernon, Ohio and about 12 years ago moved from there to
Marion, where he had charge of an old ladies home. Surviving besides his wife
are the following brothers: Eli Henley, Ellis Sherman, Dennis and Homer Bates,
all of Cambridge, Leonard of Byesville, L.P. of Blissfield, Ohio, two daughters,
Mrs. Marie Gardner and Mrs. Louella Wendell, both of Farrell PA. The body was
brought to the home of his brother, E. E. Bates, at Cambridge, Monday. Funeral

Bates, Mrs. Lucy : Mrs. Lucy Marie Gordon Bates, 29, wife of Clarence D. Bates, died Friday morning in the family home in Summerfield, following a lingering illness. She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gordon of Summerfield; her husband, Clarence and five children, Linda Sue, Margaret Lou, Gerald Lee, Judith Ann and Beverly Jean, all of the home; six sisters, Mrs. Marcella Parsons of Sarahsville, Mrs. Wilda Hughes of Canton, Mrs. Thelma Lee of Harriettsville, Mrs. Ruth Fogle of Caldwell, Miss Sula Gordon of Toledo and Miss Lola Gordon of Sarahsville; two brothers, Floyd and Carroll Gordon, both of Sarahsville. Services were held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in the Free Methodist Church at Summerfield. Rev. Robert Terman officiated and burial was made in the East Union Cemetery, with the McVay Funeral Home in charge. 22 Feb 1952
Baughman, Mrs. Ada B. : Mrs. Ada B. Baughman, 85, of Roseville, died at 5:50 p.m. Friday in Shields Nursing Home following a three year illness. A lifelong resident of Muskingum County, she was born 06 Aug 1890 in Newton Twp. Mrs. Baughman was a member of Rolling Plains United Methodist Church. Surviving are two sons. Loren G. of Crooksville and Karl L. Baughman of Roseville; tow grandsons, Mark and Roger, both of Crooksville and a great-granddaughter. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at William Thompson and Son Funeral Home in White Cottage where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Baughman, Karl L. : Karl L. Baughman, 70, of Roseville, died Monday Dec 28, 1998 at Adams Lane Care Center. Born May 5, 1928 in Zanesville, he had lived in Roseville area since 1948. He was a retired employee of Friendship Pottery in Roseville. Prior to that he worked for 18 years for Sidwell Bros. in road construction. Surviving are one brother Loren G. Baughman of Crooksville; two nephews, Roger Baughman of Crooksville and Mark Baughman of Glass Rock and Mark Baughman of Somerset. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel L. and Ada Lewellyn Baughman and one sister, Dorothy L. Baughman.

She was a member of Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 276, Somerton. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Delbert Hatcher. Surviving are hr husband, Jack Beard; a son, Robert Hatcher of Barnesville; two sisters, Mrs. Dennis (Gail) Jenewein and Mrs. Elmer (Grace) Moore, both of Bethesda; a brother, Arthur White of Centerville; a grandson and several nieces and nephews. Benson, Betty Ann: Betty Ann Benson, 60, of 221 Fair St., Fairview, died Friday May 7,1993 in Noble County, a daughter of the late Darwin and Nelda Hutchison Griggs. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde H., and an infant sister. Surviving are three stepsons, Lynn Benson of San Antonio, Gaylord and Clifford Benson of Fairview; one stepdaughter, Sharon Miracle of Marengo; 10 step grandchildren; several step great-grandchildren and one step great-great-grandchild. Benson, William Ronald: William Ronald Benson, 78, Barnesville, formerly of Bethesda, died Monday in City Hospital, Bellaire, He was born Sept 11,1911 in Belmont County, a son of the late William Caldwell and Sarah Imelda Wilcox Benson. He was a retired farmer, coal miner and a Methodist. He was preceded in death by his wife Nellie Harper Benson. Surviving are four sons, Charles K. of Canton, Lawrence E. and Stephen G. both of Beallsville, and Francis G. of Barnesville; a daughter, Esther Reed of Beaver Creek' a brother, Raymond of Akron; a sister Laura Kemp of Chestnut Level; 21 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Friends will be received, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Kelly-Kemp Funeral Home Bethesda where services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday. Burial follows in Ebenezer Cemetery, Bethesda. Berschinski, Thomas G.: Thomas G. Berschinski, 35, of Tinley Park, formerly of Riverdale (IL) died at home June 21 (1981). Born June 6, 1946 in Blue Island, he was an inspector for the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad and a veteran of Vietnam. He was the son of Clement and Frances Berschinski of Riverdale. The funeral was June 25, from Community Mortuary, Riverdale, to Queen of Apostles Church for mass. Internment was in Assumption Cemetery.
Betts, Myrtle: Myrtle Betts, 88, of Sandy Ridge Rd. Barnesville, died Sunday at home. She was born June 13, 1904 in Bethesda, a daughter of the late Parkinson and Sarah Elizabeth Walker Lynn. She was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church, Barnesville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Friend; a stepdaughter, Evelyn Bailey; four brothers; two sisters. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received today, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, Barnesville, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Gene Miller officiating. Bingham, Mrs. Eva : Mrs. Eva Bingham, 64, wife of Mayor George Bingham died Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. following an illness of which she was bedfast for twenty five weeks. She was a member of the Pentecostal Mission Church. She leaves her husband and one son, John McElroy of Newport, Ohio; two grandchildren, Mrs. Katherine Churchwean of Wellsburg, WV., and William Edmond McElroy of the U. S. Merchant Marine; one sister, Mrs. James Barclay this city; and two brothers, Robert English of Derwent and Charles English of Columbus. Blake, Anthony: Anthony (Tony) Blake, 100, Carriage Inn , Cadiz, formerly of Bethesda, died Wednesday evening at Harrison Community Hospital, Cadiz. He was born December 27, 1888 at Uniontown WV., a son of the late Wiley and Lavina Showalter Blake. He was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church Former constable and marshal at Bethesda, and had been a cigar roller for several years at Bethesda. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gail Wineman Blake, his second wife, Florence Swank Blake; a daughter, Wavie Whitacre; a son Charles; four brothers and a sister. Surviving are a daughter, Helen Morris of Mansfield; four sisters, Della, Deliah, both of Florida, Madge of Adena, and Jessie of Hopedale; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Kelly-Kemp Funeral Home, Bethesda, Friday 6 to 9 p.m., where funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m., with William Hayden officiating.
